@ maligance: thanks, I'll check it out. @ sarcon - yep, I printed out photos of a couple of dragons to use as inspiration when I put him together. Yours was top of the pile; really liked the pose and the rider. I intended to build and paint the dragon as the last of my chaos ebay projects, but I rea...

I really like the dynamism of the shades' poses, good work. Much more interesting than the metal ones. With such small units, you could afford to bend your rules about speed painting just a touch; one single highlight on the cloaks would add 1-2 minutes per model, and on a unit of 5 guys that would ...

Thanks Sarcon, glad you like it. I stole the idea from your own dragon, after all! As soon as I saw the cool pose, I wanted to better the dark elf dragon I did a while ago... and here he is. As I said though, I won't be painting this one. You'll have to be content with an Ork army in my other thread...

Thanks guys! Yes, that's a spike sticking out of its eyesocket. My take on Chaos on this project was to get away from the kind of 'oh, happy days, chaos has given me a big claw to play with, how nice' approach, and to make it look as if chaos mutations actually *hurt*. So you look at the dragon and ...

Thanks guys. @ Uman - thanks. I might do the occasional plate reversed, black with yellow dags, that might give me the variation I'm after without diluting the Bad Moons flavour. I did do a bit of edge highlighting on te yellow, but the mithril chipping almost completely masks it anyway! I will try ...

Thanks guys. The necks are standard necks, one of them is upside down, both of them have been tinkered with to fit. I don't think they are any longer than normal, but who knows with chaos eh.

two test Orks for 40k doubles in Jan

here are 2 test orks I have completed for a Bad Moons warband that I'm taking to the 40k Doubles in early January. A Shoota boy and an 'ard boy; I've always thought Bad Moons are the most fun and this is the first time I've got arounnd to putting some togehter. I used the foundations and washes (goo...

Wow, no replies? Harsh. This isn't meant to sound like sour grapes but is there another Chaos Warriors specific forum where this might find a better home? I'll keep it here anyway as I value your comments (which are usually fairly forthcoming ) but I still feel a bit out of place posting non-dark el...

WIP Chaos Dragon with Chaos Lord

This is my latest Chaos project, after the Giant last month. I wanted to do a Chaos Lord on a two headed dragon that used no metal bits. Here he is so far; I've done a bit more greenstuff on the mutated head and a bit more on the base since this photo. Any suggestions for colour schemes for the drag...

These are looking great! I like the conversions with new flamers and masks and suchlike; the way you've made them work with the old basic models. Is the conversion on the miscast models teeth a jaw replacement? I'm not familiar with that model. Nice work if it is! Plus the bloodaxe symbol - blended ...

Stunning effort / effect ratio there! Nicely done. Are all those colours that rich with just one layer of wash or did the red robes for example take several layers before they stopped looking pink? I have to paint some units for a club army, you have inspired me to try it with 'wash only' techniques!

Thanks guys. @Sarcon: Glad you like it - he doesn't get called goodlooking very often, it means a lot to him. I'm really enjoying putting a lot of effort in to a few projects at the moment that I don't intend to keep, but I'll have to put up some pictures of my 'real' projects too, just to show I'm ...

Really good work, well done mate. I'm not a fan of the old orks at all (apart from for nostalgia value) but you've done a great job. It seems odd to see a more realistic palette on them than used to be published in Ere We Go / Freebooterz etc when they used to paint them all bright green / red etc. ...

Thanks gents. I'm painting him at the moment; just finished the 'colouring in' of the base coats and the washes, now the detail starts. I'm aiming for a general horrible mutated by chaos look, so I'm not really trying to capture one specific Mark with him, just to make him as nasty as possible. The ...

Chaos Giant with mutations - updated Nov 24 - work finished

Here is my current project, a gribbly sort of fellow. I tried to get him looking quite off-balance and asymmetrical without being silly. I imagine the chaos mutations are the way he has 'healed' after battle damage; the arm was shot off by a cannonshot, and the huge rent in the belly was where an El...

Nice work on the cold ones, as has been said. On the Hydra, seeing the stumps where you have broken off the outer heads made me wonder - how about doing a wounded Hydra with a head or two cut off? If you can paint three heads effectively, there's not much doubt you could paint the others, but it mig...

That's looking great mate, well done. The pointing arm and pose of the rider in particular complement the pose of the dragon nicely. I'm doing a chaos dragon rider at the moment but it's a lot less ambitious that yours! Good job, inspiring stuff... Looking at the army as a whole I was well impressed...

Chaos Knights with demonic banner - pics, for sale

Here are some of the new Chaos Knights I've just finished, including my first attempt at a freehand demon banner. I've tried to keep to the very traditional Chaos palette and to get the black iron effect worked out. Any comments / criticisms most appreciated! http://i493.photobucket.com/albums/rr293...

I meant ugly as in an ugly dark elf - that head has a touch of the nosferatu in it! I like it, not all elves should look like size zero male perfume models after all. I think some of it was the previous photo; I remember the head on your chaos lord and it looks fine.

Keep it up!

Good job mate, I like the Manflayers and the Noble you've done (especially becasue he's ginger, of course !wink! ) but you've upped your game for the Corsairs by quite a bit I'd say. You've solved the flat skin problem, they look just right. Nicely done! What head have you used on that mounted dread...
