Ogre players can't take a Slaughtermaster if they don't take a Tyrant first.

Magic is less reliable; you can't guarantee that you will get that spell off, whereas the Cauldron benefits are a certainty. However, why not have both?

Well, you could try not taking on a block of Saurus with hero head-on! Shoot them or magic them if possible, to whittle them down and remove any ranks, then you can hit back hard with Executioners or Cold One Knights as Darktan says when they're at a manageable size.

Sorry guys, Mr. Anderson is right on all his points. I find it highly amusing that there is even any discussion on this point, as it is definitively clear! "Common Magic Items" is not an item category, it is simply a list of magic items that are accessible by all races. All items, even the...

That section that states "will only cause IR on double 6" is merely a reminder of the rule in the book that says the same thing about items like the Ring of Hotek. Normal wizards will not get irresistible force on rolling double 2s with the ring, for example, and only the miscast will happ...

Army book rules trump generic rules. So unless there's an FAQ saying that all template attacks now hit partials (regardless of what it says in the army book) or a specific FAQ for Shadowblade, my sense would be that you roll for partials... +1. In fact, +2 on account of the extra win involved in yo...

You did, they do stack. Hence, mystery solved. It's the only special rule that actually stacks, so you can't have Armour Piercing stack, for example.

Hope you pass your ward save? Really, there's not much you can do to hide that thing against cannons and true line of sight, it's too big to do anything sneaky with. Unless of course you're planning to hide it behind a mountain/wall/building/etc.

Re: Refusing challenge with BSB

if i refuse a challenge with my bsb, and hide him further back in the unit, can i still use his bsb abilities? Just as a heads-up, you can't refuse a challenge with a specific character. When a challenge is issued by an opponent's character, and you refuse the challenge, your opponent picks who goe...

I'm not a terribly big fan of people calling the Cauldron of Blood a mount. I mean, she's definitely not straddling the thing as you would a normal mount (aside from some clever modelling). The Cauldron is simply an option available to the Death Hag, not a mount (I don't see the Cauldron fighting ba...

@Maldor: Looking back I am inclined to agree with you. It would probably work more like a cannonball rulse-wise than anything else, and cannonballs are randomized. My first impression was that it would work more like a template weapon, with everything being affected but after some consideration I th...

Of course your concerns are understood completely Bitterman. The OMGWTFBBQ dragon of justice wouldn't really care much for a bunch of peasants with pointy flaming sticks, even if there were hundreds of them. Then again, we're simply talking potential rules here, not so much the reality that those ru...

Hydra + Handlers are not a single model, easily verified by looking at the unit itself (it consists of 3 models on separate bases, therefore it is 3 separate models). Therefore each model has to test separately assuming they are affected. As for the issue with a Dragon, taking the tests for the ride...

Sorry, but Calisson is correct. A character on a monstrous mount like a Dragon/Manticore/Pegasus is indeed a unit of its own, therefore you will need to randomize between the rider and the mount as normal. In case there are any other doubts in your mind, you can always check the Dark Elf FAQ and Err...

Do you have a direct quote anywhere that says exactly that? Well, rumors are rumors. Of course, there's not going to be a specific or direct quote from anywhere that would be considered legitimate, because the book hasn't come out yet. Then again that's why I said that they were implications of how...

I think you guys aren't really grasping the implication that this rumored rule has. If models with flaming attacks cause Fear in war beasts, hounds, etc. then it doesn't matter if they already have/cause Fear or Terror, because they'd be affected anyway. It's like how Harry the Hammer causes Fear in...

Arguments are as much a part of Warhammer as the "W" in its name. As long as there are people playing it, there will always be someone who disagrees with another person. In any case, I echo Calisson's previous suggestion that this thread be closed. The topic is pretty much done, so there's...

1. Any models in the path take an initiative test. So, the Hydra would use its own initiative if it's in the path of oncoming death. 2. You can make as many regeneration saves as you want, but you will still have to remove the Hydra as a casualty if it fails the initiative test as per the rules of t...

Melee attacks: Yes. Shooting attacks: Yes, although RxBs get no benefit since they are already AP. Magic attacks: No, since the spell is doing all the work (read: damage), not the caster or his/her unit. It's similar to how Bladewind doesn't benefit from Hatred even though the Sorceress has it.

No, you can't. Doesn't really need an FAQ, but it has one anyway, where it is explained that the Null Talisman takes up your talisman choice (therefore, you can't have a Null Talisman(s) and, say, the Ring of Hotek, or the Pendant of Khaeleth).
