Re: 9th AGE Question: character on steed

Soon as I get a chance to play with them, I will post about them.

9th can save us guys. Not only from the hobby being on life support...... but from the restraint of GW only model armies. This is a new age my friends.

Re: Un-Welcome to the Age of Sigmar

Latest Khorne bundle, is going for $1,245 USD. I didn't bother checking, but likely that would be the same price as buying all the kits individually. WTF. The best way I can describe GW's relationship to its player base (CUSTOMER base) would be similar to a person with a severe substance abuse probl...

Re: Welcome to the Age of Sigmar

I do believe we are now "good" guys. I'd like to know if factions within the 4 great alliances can co mingle. If so, this could actually be a blast from both a gaming and modeling perspective. I would actually get to use the small amount of models I have from other armies. Can I use a lion...

Re: 1500pts DE vs Goblins

Wolf chariots die easily to shooting. T4 with a 5+ is fairly weak. Each long range Dshard shot has a 7% chance to wound one. You don't NEED to shoot unarmored goblins, they will die to everything. Shoot his threats, but make smart targeting choices; -RBT spread shots average 1.5 wounds a volley at l...

Re: Need help creating a 2000 point list

Executioner horde with a BWS is handy. 30ish is probably ok. This unit is gross. Consider a hag with brew, or tullaris. If you're feeling froggy put your SS in this unit, she'll be Ld10 from the BWS. Perhaps fencer's for some don't hit me defense. She can be very safe with earthblood up, but it may ...

Re: Power of Darkness - does anyone actually use it?

I don't like PoD on a L2, as I usually have no form of protection for the possible wound. On a L4 the +1 S can be very useful. I'm not against running a L4 of dark in cold ones, warlocks, on a dragon, a larger DR unit, or in an exec/BG unit. I'm not as scared of the wound b/c she'll have a 4++, and ...

Re: How to deal with great bale taurus in Swedish comp?

First of all...fantastic idea. If you want the DL to be a lil more adaptable, I'd give him BA, Dhelm, OTS, Great weapon. He can be mounted on anything for a 1+ with HA and SDC. I would keep him on a pegasus/cold one/steed. Otherwise they could just attack your mount. Yes, you lose your ASF rerolls, ...

Re: How to deal with great bale taurus in Swedish comp?

He'd just kill the dragon. BA won't work for the dragon, you're still stuck trying to win with active CR. A lot of points, esp against a warmachine prone army.

Re: 2500 points tournament list - Expanding the current army

I wouldn't screen with 30 BaC's. If used for screening, I generally run them 6x2, with hand bows. Problem with using infantry for screening is they have the same movement value. Harpies can charge over the executioner target, clearing the way. Fast cav can also do this depending on how you form them...

Re: 2500 points tournament list - Expanding the current army

Executioners benefit the most from both 8th ed rules, and the DE special rules from the recent book. Single attack, high strength models gained the most from support attacks. Great weapon users gained the most from step up. Yes, ASF means they go in initiative order. Step up is more often a negative...

Re: 2500 points tournament list - Expanding the current army

If you're just starting DE, or sounds like expanding your army, I'd advise the following; Reaper Bolt Throwers. At least 2. These are almost mandatory. They clear chaff and threaten big nasties. A unit of at least 9 CoK. Their combat ability mirrors that of other elite units, BG, monsters. But their...

Re: 1500pt Tournament list

I would drop the flaming banner. If you really need the CoK to be an all purpose fighting unit, you're usually better off with the razor standard. However, if you think you'll see some nurgle heavy armies, keep your DL there. He'll handle anything with the 2++ vs flaming, as long as you have the gia...

Re: 1500pt Tournament list

At 1500 pts it's very hard to take an all comer's list, which can hold a candle to somebodies rock/paper/scissors list. Hard to account for everything. I think you have the making's of a RPC list, but haven't quite committed to it. I think the rules for list making change when you go way down in poi...

Re: Getting our flaming attacks in

I've had more succes with doombolting a chymera, or sending COT pegasus master in. Also shadow can pit of shades it, quite good. If you want to take it out by missile fire, just use the 14 flaming crossbows followed up by your bolt throwers. Hydra won't do anything, because its flaming attacks from...

Re: Getting our flaming attacks in

Thraundil..... I forgot the main reason I use them in the small chaffy, shooty, role. They have a 4+. Shards can only get a 5+ if you pay for a shield. Quick to fire usually is canceled out by the long range penalty, so the chance to hit is often equal. Not being armor piercing does suck tho. I'm st...

Re: Getting our flaming attacks in

I know this isn't the thread, but corsairs are not bad at all. Small units, 12ish or so, with hand bows and a musician are handy. They can guard RBT's, and serve as suitable chaff/anti-chaff. Quick to fire is a fantastic rule. The range is garbage, but you can swift reform, move and shoot someone. A...

Re: Getting our flaming attacks in

Each RBX shot at long range has a 3.6 chance of wounding a chimera, if flaming. You need 14 bodies, for 28 shots to put a wound on with average rolls. In combat, a flaming breath hydra vs a chimera, they kill each other in the 2nd round, if you breathe in the first round. Don't use the template, one...

Re: Best lore to use with sacrificial dagger?

I see it working well very similarly to the spells of the little waagh with NG shams. The low casting value with a free power die per spell is very, very handy. Even more so considering you have a 1/3 chance to steal a DD, but that's just for them. Heavens is fantastic with it's low values, and beca...

Re: Swedish comp (11) 2500pts for tournament

He took odd kits for his scar vets. I typically see 2 scar vets, and one old blood on cold ones. All with GW's, and a 1+. 1 has AoD for 1+ 4++. 1 has 1+ dawnstone. Old blood has ToP OTS, 1+. From everything I can tell these are the 3 most effective kits for their characters. My Empire lists HATE HAT...

Re: Back again with another 3000 point list.

I've found using only 1 monster is pretty lame. Almost every army has an answer for one. I think the hydra points may be better spend on a BWS for your execs. You'd lose a hydra, but gain a horde, and 20 points, as the magic standard becomes unnecessary, thanks to the +1 Ld effect of the BWS. Also, ...

If you're running infantry heavy, a support L2 with Beasts is a great idea. Gives you two ways to make infantry S4, wyssyn's and PoD. Also, casting on a shrine unit lowers the casting value by 1 if i'm not mistaken. Beasts as a support lore is great. pelt/flock only real duds, and just switch to wys...

Re: Is lore of darkness any good? I would contend not...

Something else to consider about Dark Lore, specifically PoD, and its synergy with support casters. Against many armies, only some of Dark Lore is going to be greatly useful. WoP is top 5-6 spells in the game, when considering its effects and casting value. It UNIVERSALLY useful. No type of army/lis...

Re: Is lore of darkness any good? I would contend not...

Power of darkness isn't amazing, but it has uses. Esp in non comped environments, where multiple casters, particularly warlocks, are penalized greatly. The +1S aspect is situational. I've rarely used this spell with the augment in mind. Generally what it can do is extend your phase. Here's an exampl...
