With the Crimson Death, your Dreadlord could probably get by with Blood Armor, which would let your BSB have the AoD

WOC don't have that much shooting, so the DP mounted Sorceress may be ok, but she'll be vulnerable against anyone with shooting. Since it's a single model now - all shots hit the combined model at her T and Save ... great for a Master at 1+ ... not as good for her (even with the ward)

True enough - they are rather pricey. Even though they will suffer from attacks back, I can't help but see Witch Elves are wicked good against 5+ save infantry. HE Spears will put a hurt on them b/c of attacks back, but the chickies will definitely bring the pain.

The new rule will also have to be clarified for the Cauldron - if all hits now go against the war machine (similar to the monster thing) and the Cauldron can't be wounded ... makes it hard to transfer wounds to the Hags, eh?

I think it is that wounds transfer ... not hits. It's worse than it used to be, but it does mean that the hits have to wound the Hydra first. Also, I believe the army book overrides and hopefully the rumored 8th Ed update for DE will clarify
