I have a hard time believing that Saurus, if taken 6 wide (which I know was not done here, but then again, CoK don't hit the front) that they cannot do a little better. You are getting 6 "additional" attacks. So, for the 'one more' that would be killed statistically, you would be getting 5 addition...

Lucius, Thanks for the kind response. It's Zader though, not Zedar. I think that most of the details of how I've made are in the various posts in the thread, but if you have any particulars I'd be glad to answer them. I would like to point out though that the formula SeekingOne gave is mathematicall...

Some Additions: 1: All examples assumed onmarked Saurus Warriors. True, but it's the same numbers for spear + shield + quetzl, which is another probable case. So saying that the probability results aren't valid based on just that is a bit off base. In my experience, the marking of Quetzl is the mos...

When I use them, I use them for one reason: they are stubborn. As an anvil unit, I think these guys are superb. As a unit I've used to tie up a much bigger block of enemies while I smash the rest of the army - also superb. I've had them die on me to a man ... but won me the game a couple of times no...

@Zader Below is the probability table which takes into account both knights and riders (P is in %) Not less than 0 Wounds : 100.00 (obviously ) Not less than 1 Wounds : 96.11 {snip} We get the same results for the knights+CO- my table is for the exact probability of x number of wounds, while your t...

Although very interesting and I'm sure accurate all this is assuming that: 1. You can get your unit into a good position. 2. For frontal charge I'm asuming you are not counting the unit as having spears 3. The lizzie general has no back up plan for your units. 4. Have you tried putting a Saurus her...

Errrr sorry Zader for reasons beyond my own comprehension I gave these guys 2 attacks each - I think you should include champions so if you've got a min post the results for a frontal charge - 6 attacks for the Exes Vs 5 attacks minus casualties for the Hamms - my calculations in my head telll me t...

SeekingOne, The alogrithm works for the n>1 cases as well, it just uses a base n counting method which is handled by the program. (So binary for 2 attacks, base 3 for 3 attacks, etc.) The two methods we are using are equivilent for the probability models of the individual units; the main reason I'm ...

Actually ten cold one knights wwht the hydra banner is already enough to break most of the rank and file troops. You have US 20 you can break almost anything. You dont need the annointed one. ' I think breaking the cold one knights into five for flanking would be much recommanded. And you dont need...

Zader, is killing blow factored in your calc? Also did you give the Exes 11 Attacks Vs dwarves 9 attacks - casualties? Killing blow is factored in, but no champion was included for either side. (So it's 10 attacks vs 8 rather than 11 vs 9). All of the casualty factors are in place as well; the dwar...

Greetings! A curious thread, really Zader, could you explain your calculation algorithm in more detail? I mean the one posted in the end of page 1. I'm also a bit into probability theory, and when I make calculations for the CoK against Sauri I get different results. So one of should be wrong here ...

Your Executioners can go toe to toe with his hammerers quite nicely so don't be afraid to take them on even if your outnumbered. (snip) Well, be careful on this - if you hit them in the flank or rear you'll be fine; but don't try to go head to head with them if you are outnumbered. Either way it's ...

If so I'd hate to be charged by a single character - they could nullify the war hydra without ever having to fight it... Nope. No matter what the base size, he's still going to have to fight the hydra. Remeber that coners can fight too. I was making an example of how the exact wording of the rules ...

Win goes to Druchii 3) 2000 pts vs Lizardmen, Solid Victory. Win goes to Druchii. 4) 1500 pts vs Lizardmen, ...

Break through his lines with CoK and roll him up. Distract his warmachines with DR's, shades, and/or harpies while advancing your infantry. Remember that units can be expended if it gives you an advantage in position - I've charged DR's into warmachines even though they will get hit in the flank the...

but one interesting thing to observe in the rules is that the target skirmisher unit is required to get as many *models* in contact as possible. I keep seeing this, but unfortunately I don't agree with it. It's rather rules-lawyerish; the intention as I see it is that the Lizardmen form the same fr...

I (a bret player myself), think that magic is one of the only chances a Druchii commander has. Manouvere: This is really one of the biggest things a Druchii should use. Take the knights on the flanks and they're dead meat. I agree with all the points, but personally I think this one sums it up the ...

I just took a quick look, but nice work You might want to do a summary post on the commonly cast spells though so people can print it and use it as a reference. That seems like it would be a nice reference to have to bring with you to a game. (I was a little reluctant to download a binary personally...

Yup, I have a new table for the three attacks. But, as I said, the musk is taken into account. The chance to wound per attack moves from .333 to .222 due to the Musk. You are however correct that it's better than a 6+ wardsave -> then it's a .2778 chance to wound. In fact, it's identical to a 5+ War...

Re: Probability tables: CR tables for witch elves, devoted
Your numbers are off for the devoted. When we were working on the SoC list, we wanted the devoted to really have main role, and we worked through all sorts of special rules to get there along with a lot of bargaining going down with GW. Also we wanted to make them different from witch elves. Finall...

Just a quick question. If I'm right your results state that a flank charge has a better CR than a rear charge, right? 2) The rear attack is nearly as good, but the Saurus have just a slightly better chance due to the extra model - even with the additional +1 to CR. I don't think you're right here. ...
