he uses them with disregard, as they almost never die in games, heck wit a 2+ save, 5 str on charge, and 4 normally, i would 2 I disagre. KoWW are relatively easy picks due to them having armour of only 2+. Actually, they are not used by any empire players in my community, for this very reason. Bes...

You can always lukc out though, i remember two RBT's firing a volley at long range into knights off the inner circle (12), leaving only their champion standing.

There is an old saying:
"Luck is usually with the one who doesn't include it in his plans" ;)

If you fire single shot you are more likely to wound and you also ignore their armour. This is only partially true. IF you absolutely need to fire your RBTs at Chosen CK, then single-shot is really a better option. BUT even single bolts are only truly effective if knights are in 2 ranks. I think th...

RBTs are not particularly effective against chaos knights.

Very true.

Noble folk, didn't anyone play against the Ravening Hordes version of CK? They were ALL 1+ save (at some 33 pts per head)... RBTs were a major waste against them.

the normal shooty empire lists are not that bad on MSU, because the troops that shoot are not that hard in CC, and you can normally rout a unit of handgunners with just half a regiment of warriors (due to skill, initiative and armorsaves). Yes, this sounds quite fine... But what about Steam Tank? I...

However, with practice, just like in chess, you start "seeing" flank charges a turn or two before they happen. I'm an former chess-player, and I have to say that this is one thing that has prevented me from effectively using serious tactics so far: unlike in chess, in WH you never really have time ...

On the usage of CoB Judging by the games I observed, the easiest opponents for MSU or Hybrid armies seem to be the HtH-oriented advancing armies. The reason is simple: the enemy which comes to you is easier to outmanoeuvre. In such cases CoB seems to be a sort of overkill. At the same time shooty &a...

Ok, let me add something more... Through years of facing ultra-cheesy armies I've learned one important thing: never fight your opponent's sledgehammer uber-units Whenever you see something like 10-12 chosen Chaos knights or Black Knights or Grail Knights led by a corresponding Lord, you should alwa...

aah. I didn't know he couldn't attack that turn. Not sure what you guys are talking about, but if a character is in the front rank of a unit, then by charging said unit in the flank or rear you only keep that char out of fight for ONE close combat phase. You charge, one HtH phase is fought in the e...

With the +1 to cast and the game-controlling nature of Dark Magic, a 2lv2 Sorceress army can realiably cast 2 spells of the 10-12 power level variety per turn. I'd rather say that under the listed conditions "2lv2 Sorceress army can realiably TRY TO cast 2 spells of the 10-12 power level variety pe...

dark elves get the Seal of Ghrond and the overpriced DoomStick (TM). If it's the Wand of the Kharaidon you're speaking about, then I strongly disagree. It's a good item for a mobile DE army. Overall, a nice bound spell at PL4 is never bad. I like the wand more than the similar HE item. It's importa...

Greetings! I dare to start with a sort of a philosophical thought... I hope you'll agree that in each and every occupation there should be some sort of "point of reference" - something, that enables you to realise more or less objectively how well you are doing with this occupation and what is your ...

Re: Magic Defense in Various Armies

Greetings MTUCache! I've just started collecting DE, played HE a lot before. I also face armies with maxed out magic in 90% of my games. So I'm going to comment on this from the point of view of facing magic-heavy armies (8-10 levels of magic in total) . What kind of magic defense do you consider "a...

Once in a tournament I saw a Khornate army battling with DE. Chaos army was very small - chosen warriors and knights and a nasty flying daemon or even two... Probably something else - can't remember. DE army consisted of - Highborn on a Dragon, sorceress on pegasus - and the rest were all Dark Rider...

The Beastmaster on a Manti is only then better than CoK, when you're 100% sure that you are going to face a HtH-oriented army.
To my taste the Beastmaster+Manticore combination is way too easy to kill with ranged attacks. IMHO :)

As far as High Elves go, I can say the following. Yes, MSU can be adopted to HE army, but it is noticeably harder to do - due to the different structure of the army list ends often do not meet. In particular, HE have considerable troubles with Special section because their fast cav is also Special, ...

Greetings! I can say DE have a good list, I find it much better than the HE one (and I'm HE player myself). And IMO DE have very good chances for victory. The described situation screams for the Lore of Shadow . First of all, you heavily outmagic HE, and a single scroll-caddy never works really well...
