Re: Welcome to the Age of Sigmar
I personally think that these rules and scrolls are just placeholders, and I'm sincerely hoping for a more serious game to be released in the coming few weeks (probably in the form of an "expansion"). These rather unspecific rules are great for playing around with the new mechanics, while...

Re: Pick your Space, sorry Sig Marine chapter now.
They do have a Blood Angels vibe about them. Halos? Gold armour? Death masks? Wings? That's been kicking around in 40k to some degree since 2nd edition.

Re: 9th Edition Rumours
It's a bit early to tell, but there is great potential in the way they handled this... To me it feels a lot like a modern trading card game, Hearthstone style or something. The rules themselves are simple, concise and quick to learn. The complexity is picked up by the models, and how players use th...

Re: Fluff aside. What does EoT mean for our model range in 9
Why? Look at the number of things that has become a main rule instead of just an End of Time rule. Of all the 5 books..only two rules have become main stream. 50% lord allowance...and the Lore of Undeath. I think what intrigues me is the 'Go nuts' approach to army construction they put in Archaon. ...

Re: Fluff aside. What does EoT mean for our model range in 9
There is no indication whatsoever yet that Ninth will continue with the end times structures. Why would it when end times has finished? Its an opportunity for them to scratch fluff and rebuild using the same armies or i could see them possibly doing the "high" period e.g. sigmars time etc...

The stupidest army you can make?
Now that ET: Archaon allows you to field armies with no restrictions whatsoever, I was wondering: With the models you have, what is the craziest/stupidest army you can make from your collection (for any army)? I could certainly field close to 40 Chaos Knights with various characters (pushing 2k) and...

Re: Open source theorycrafting and coding
Like anything, there's potential. But who knows where WH is heading now? GW seems to be pushing more towards big models - not only monsters, but ogre type stuff as well. Perhaps it's a sea change to something Warmachine-like, who can say? I think WH lives in a little subjective world where working t...

Re: Rick Priestley on current GW
I think the main part that sticks out for me is the impracticality of the newer models. Nagash, his montarchs, the new Verminlord and Bloodthirster (and even I have to admit the Khornate approach to chaos is getting downright lazy)...these aren't really models built for serious use in games on a reg...

Re: Portrayal of women in fantasy
I think it really varies on the inspiration of the fantasy world in question. GW's is very traditional, pretty much Tolkien-esque through and through...devised in the 80s when men/boys were considered the only real audience for wargaming (Oh, GW and their research skills). With a medieval inspiratio...

Re: Beyond the End Times - What is next.....
Actually the only thing I liked better in 40k was that all factions were baddies to a more or less extent, which I find quite realistic, I agree with you there. 40k has always been "Which flavour of genocidal maniac do you prefer?" while in WHFB it is ways too much good vs bad, i.e. too f...

Re: Beyond the End Times - What is next.....
They look like they belong more in a 40k game than fantasy. And they look like something to attract 12 year olds to the game. (no offense if you yourself are 12...it's just the vibe I get, and it's not a direction that appeals to me.) Well, I suppose if I deploy my Optimus Prime, no one is going to...

Re: Petition for GW
My advice? Get a bunch of people together. Put some money into a pot. Buy some GW shares. Then GW might at least note down what this sort of thing says. While there is money rolling in and their accountants are happy (ish), this sort of thing might be on someone's screen for 10 seconds. I don't agre...

An image occurred to me, something my artistic skills aren't quite up to making - a hail of arrows raining down on terrorism, but those aren't arrows, they are pens and pencils. Words have power, and the true messages of peace and goodwill will be remembered in a thousand years when all the violence...

Re: is there any truth to 9th edition rumors?
I'm not convinced by them. The ET books seem to suggest a compression of armies and even "Undead for all!" but I don't think they'd bring out these books with such a strong focus on Warhammer in its current state and then entirely overhaul the core rules and the way the game is played. But...

Re: Next ET books
As for round bases, they confuse me. Bell/Furnace on round... but Thanquol, Verminlords and Rat Orges on square? Well, there's your first mistake...expecting GW to have any consistency to what they do . It took them at least 15 years to give bikes in 40k an actual base instead of being free-standing

Not necessarily. I was around in GW's red phase - everything was painted with blood red. It wouldn't surprise me that they'd given these two to the same painter...who probably likes that colour.
Big models in armour that are blue are bound to look similar .

This! On this, T.D. and I are of one mind. I'll go on the record right now and flatly state that I won't play a 'fantasy' version of 40K. Re: Race compression and the end of times for Druchii.net?
What is throwing me is that there are still respected rumour mongers stating Brets will actually be the next AB to be released. So either there will be an ET reboot, the AB will be based on a shattered kingdom or the rumours are just wrong. If they do get released that almost proves this is all jus...
