Re: Return of the Sacrificial Dagger

You could roll a 5 on the PD limit, roll 4 dice to preserve one and if you don't meet the casting value add the dagger die.

Dagger is only useless if you roll a 1 on the PD limit.

Re: Magic in the End Times: rule discussion

Items with bound spells don't make a character carrying them a wizard, so they won't suddenly get better. Lore of fire got a lot better though what with its easy to spam spells and a cumulative bonus to cast them from the attribute. "So i can use only 1 die for this fireball... ok 1d6 plus 10d3...

Re: Return of the Sacrificial Dagger

If you rolled 6 dice and still failed in standard warhammer, are you able to use the dagger to add 7th die?

Re: Magic in the End Times: rule discussion

Hex spells are cumulative so yes, WoP just got quite a bit stronger. I don't know how magic mushrooms work in this edition so I can't comment. @Calisson after some consideration I must agree with you, casting attempt is well defined by the rules and leaves little to debate. My interpretation hinged ...

Re: Return of the Sacrificial Dagger

Correct, but it is the same benefit that was there before.
I think quite a few people believe the dagger would let them go beyond the d6 PD limit which is incorrect.

Not really, because you can still only use max 4 or 5 dice, dagger or no dagger.

Re: Magic in the End Times

Sure thing Calisson. ET:K page 8 "Spells can be used any number of times in each Magic phase, as long as all previous attempts to cast the spell have been successful.[...]" ET:K page 9 "A spell for which a failed casting attempt was made in the same Magic phase." Pretty obvious. ...

Re: Return of the Sacrificial Dagger

Yeah, Tome of Furion now has no use. But that's no different from items from other armies that became useless during edition transitions (Bretonnians have a couple... like banner increasing unit strength I think). As for the dagger. I don't see it being any different than it's now. It doesn't allow ...

Re: Fluff aside. What does EoT mean for our model range in 9

Some choices won't see the light of day Why use Spearmen/Dreadspears when you have access to Eternal Guard now? Why use Archers/Darkshards when you have access to Glade Guard now? Why use Ellyrian Reavers when you have access to Glade Riders/Dark Riders now? It is mostly core units though, other cho...

Re: The End Times - Dream teams?

What armies do we have left that haven't been introduced to End Times rules wise yet? Bretonnia Empire (though bits here and there) Dwarfs Skaven Greenskins Lizardmen Ogres. My predictions: Bretonnia, Dwarfs and Empire form the Old World Alliance, but only after Dwarfs get kicked out of their homela...

Which should've been highest + lowest to keep the same spread... now you're more likely to get the higher end results on the table.

But I guess that was intended, with more magic around demons are stronger.

Re: Magic in the End Times

Pretty much what Zubus said. To be honest, ET: Khaine doesn't help with its wording. One part saying that the spell must be successfully cast, another part that an attempt must be successful. But what is defined as a successful attempt in the rules? Nothing. But a successful cast is clearly defined ...

Re: Magic in the End Times

Spell is not successfuly cast until a dispel attempt has been made (or forfeit)

Also, dagger doesn't allow for more dice than the d6 limit. If you roll a 1, then dagger can't be used.
Dagger will be great to use less dice in general as it's always been.

Re: It is time to state your allegiance.

The Black Ark Heart of Darkness was always loyal to the cause of reunifying the elves.

If Malekith finally came to his senses to put aside senseless slaughter of his own kin, we will warily follow his lead while keeping a close eye on his actions.

Hail the Eternal King!

You have to declare wheter you want to boost it or not first as well.

Boosted dwellers? Well, maybe. Wanna risk it?
6-dice dwellers ftw? Only 1/6th of the time you attempt to cast it.
Multiple banishment spam? Not once one gets dispelled/fails.

The 12pd limit has been lifted fo end times magic. as long as it's not dispelled and the casting value is met, we can keep casting PoD until we run out of... targets. And you see this as a 'good' thing Dal? Couple all this new dice rolling in the magic phase with a Chaos army involved and you are p...

Re: It is time to state your allegiance.

Malekith is a ruler. It is made plain when we visits the widowmaker for the first time. He has lackeys to do dirty work. It's called delegating responsibilities. He only gets involved personally when absolutely necessary... and is foiled by GW writers in a cartoon villain fashion. Not anymore! The e...

Warlocks knowing all Death and Dark spells
Sisters of Twilight knowing all Life and Beasts spells.

Horrors knowing all Tzeentch spells.

Loremasters of Hoeth knowing ALL BRB spells.

On top of that I believe Malekith in Eternal King form is the best wizard in game. Period.

At least now the missile has to be in scope of banishment and not fireball.
