well, usually when my PC works i love playing the total war games (on expert, of course ;) ). i basically like all RPG games that look like there has been a lot of effort put into, like oblivion IV. oh, and, of course - the father of all shooters: COUNTER STRIKE!!!
and racing games (the only thing that can keep me playing for a while, basically) - need for speed underground used to be my favorite on Game Cube.
but in the last time i figured that i get bored so easily when i´m playing computer and my computer kept breaking so that i don´t play at all

HUZZAH!
When I think of something witty, I shall put it here.

I don't particularly have a hands-down favourite off the top of my head. I do always end up coming back to some games for replay value, though. Examples would be Baldur's Gate II, X-Wing Alliance, and a couple of others.

I don't play games very often, but I had a lot of fun with the many Final Fantasy games (at least, up until no. X). Also had a nice run with the online game Guild Wars but stopped because there weren't many nice guilds.

Other than that, various rented-once multiplayer games played with friends. Can't put a name on them anymore, but they were great fun :D

Diablo II (and the expansion 'Lor of Destruction') is probaby the game that has hooked me the most through my youth. I've always been coming back to it, and found it entrancing at times (the kind where you choose to play instead of sleep - every night). It has the old school feel to it, while still being filled with interesting new technology. Tne graphics may not be the best, but it was made a looong time ago. The story is great, and the options are wonderful. It's also a flagship of many similar games later on in history. It has it's own little charm.

Well seriously, without even the slightest of competition, miles ahead of every other game. It has to be Deus Ex.

It is a hands down winner, best game of all time. It was Ion Storm's masterpiece and it simply had the best pacing, storyline and execution ever seen in a game. The only other games that have come close to taking a story and pacing and executing it nearly as well as Deus Ex did was the Thief Series (also Ion Storms), and Planescape: Torment (Black Isles, the people that gave us Balder's Gate).
The reason the game is so fantastic was not just because they made it a story first and a game second, but because they made it twelve stories first. The game had multiple endings, and each different execution of that storyline was perfectly written and integrated into the game. It was long, and it drew you in, not to mention encorporating some of the best level design ever seen, truly giving the player an entire box full of options on how to tackle each situation.

Deus Ex was truly amazing, and the sequel was fantastic aswell, although not as good as it's parent game, it was still a fantastic game and had it not carried the title of Deus Ex, it would have been acclaimed, but with that in it's name it gave the game something to live up to.

Ion Storm have set the bar, and since Deus Ex came out in 2000, i've yet to a see a title that has impressed me as much, Thief 3 came close, but in a different way. It is one game that every person should have to play.

Mostly all pc games regarding rpg/strategy and surely I can't tell what's my favorite since I'm still wanting to play those games :P If I write the list it'll be huge truly but above all I must say respect to Final Fantasy 7 and all Baldur's Gate series. These two I have been playing on and on and I cannot even remember how many times had I completed all quests and yet trying to find even the slightest secret :P

I have to say the same. Diablo II was an important part of my growing up, since it was that way I learned the English language way back when D2 was new. I still take it up every now and then to play for a short while. It's amusing.

Only three games ever managed to hold my attention for very long

Final Fantasy VII

Medieval total war

Baldur's Gate 2 - best game ever, it holds that mindless boring piece of crap Diablo II down and rapes it viciously over and over again. Sorry to those people who like it=p

It changes. The game I've played the most in my entire life must be Starcraft. Currently, though, Rome: Total War and Call of Duty 4. If anyone is interested in joining me in a game of the latter, just ask.
