Which one was your favorite? Do you think they pioneered console gaming? Did you like the switch from 2D to 3D? Was the Water Temple in Ocarina of Time responsible for that increase in suicides during 1998 when Ocarina of Time was released? (You dont need to answer that one, the answer is yes)
I just would like to know what everyone thinks as I downloaded an emulator and am playing through Ocarina of Time and the Water Temple is officially as hellish as I remember. I havent had to use a guide yet but I have a sneaking suspicion that I wasted one of my keys and need to restart ><
So what does everyone think?

p.s. does the Wii one really come with a shield? Cus that sounds fricking awesome!

Man, Zelda was... IS awesome.
My favorite is, and will always be, Ocarina of Time. It was just amazing all around!
Little known fact, Zelda came out a few weeks before Mario.

My favorite has gotta be Zelda 2. Challanging as hell and had good music. Not bad for a game from 1988.

Haven't played them all, but the SNES version (Link to the Past) is my favourite. Decent graphics, a large but elegantly simple and diverse world, easy controls... only drawback I ever found was the need to switch items the elaborate way (bring up item screen, select another, go back), and needing to switch often. Still play it. Going up and down in dungeons adds an extra dimension to the game.
The second was alright, but I prefer the top-down approach. It was pretty decent for a platform version, though.
The first is... well... a classic. But I believe the third (Link to the Past) is a successor worthy of the title.
Haven't played any others. SNES was the last console I bought.

Ocarina of time for me. And I dont think you can waste keys so no need to restart in the water temple.

hehe, brings back ol´ memories there, Zelda is the best line of games in the world, period.
I never finished Ocarina of time ( came to the lst temple, before ganondorfs castle ), but i did complete Majoras mask, wich i kinda like a little more, much beacouse of the graphics and the never ending theme of the game.
Ps: the wter temple in both are sunnuvabitches to do.

I actually waltzed through the water temple, it felt really linear to me for some reason. It's an awesome game and I'm re-playing it on my old N64 right now actually.

Ocarina of time was my favourite. I didn't struggle with the water temple that much when I first played it, but I started playing it about 6 months ago and got completely stumped by it. Majora's mask was pretty kick ass aswell. I also liked links awakening.
All of the Zelda games I've played have been awesome.
Although I have to disagree here, Resident Evil is clearly the best

Sorry, Resi Evil fails in comparison to many game series, Zelda being one of the top ones. RE is good, but lately they have been rather lackluster.

I know how you feel Rob, some people just love to waste zombies. Resident Evil 4 was a huge disapointment though. If I wanted to shoot brainwashed latinos I'd play GTA.

Or come to california!
A Link to the Past was just absolutely amazing. Awesome gameplay, had puzzles, needed to figure out how to get the MASTER SWORD etc. Very Fun!
And Ya, You can waste keys on doors that are worthless so after 2 more hours of fiddling I'm gonna restart though I AM SWORN TO NOT USE A GUIDE!

Ocarina of Time and (to a lesser extent) majora's mask were great, however the GC game, i think it was windwaker, I didnt like at all. And the water temple is pretty easy, you just start at the bottom and basically work your way up.
Also you cant waste keys in the water temple you just have to methodically work through it repeatedly and find the one you missed.

Personally, I liked Link's Awakening, it was the first one for Gameboy, iirc. I liked Ocarina of time, though I think I would have liked it better if it had as many side quests as Majora's Mask (the only thing I didn't like about that one was that my 3 days were up by the time I was just getting into exploring something).

I'd argue that Resi 4 was really great... It was impossible to make one more game in Racoon city. It was impossible to use the same restricted movement + combat. Resi 4 expanded the world of Resi 4, was innovative(radical, even?) in terms of gameplay, and though some would say that the action takes away the horror, I'd counter that Resi was never very scary in the first place(at leat, not at all compared to some other games of that genre...), the real terror coming from the limited ammonition and restrictions in combat, the same things that drove Dino Crisis 1(If you wanna talk about horrible successors, Dino Crisis 2 was a dissapointment to me, though still okay, while Dino Crisis 3 was an abomination). The keyword to Rese-series is not fear, but desperation.
Resi 4 gave you a more fluent gameplay, and more freedom in combat; at the same time, the enemies became fast(admitted, only until they came close to you), more numerous, stronger and harder to kill. The story was great; more depth, more character than previous games(Resi 1 was great in that same aspect too, but hindered by really rubbish voice acting, Resi 2 carried an interesting aspect in the two different stories and an expanding of the gameworld into the city, which was way cooler IMO than just the haunted house routine. Resi 3 was much a repetition of Resi 2, with indeed multiple identical location, but with added feel thanks to Nemesis hunting you relentlessly. But a repetition none the less), a deep and long plot with much variety and development. Personally, I think Resi 4 was a worthy successor to the previous games, and I have very high hopes of Resi 5. If we are to mention a let down in the Resi series, it would have to be Code Veronica X.
At least this is my view.
To get On Topic: I have only played one game in the Zelda series, Link's awakening. I used to have it to my gameboy, and now I'm playing it on my smartphone via emulator, whenever I have to wait for a bus or something like that. Never completed it though, and I'm stuck now...

I played at the original, first Zelda, for the first Nintendo (along with the first Mario Bros).
It was pure magic !! and what a great fun was seeing my elder friends playing level after level. Great. lovefool.

Well, Zelda2 really had some amazing music but my favorite has to be A Link to the Past. Purest Zelda, nice graphics, good story, re-playing it is fun too.

Ah yes, you need to defeat three enemies in a certain order. The little slab of text tells you this when you insert it. For reference, the names refer to:
Stalfos -- A skeleton knight
Pol's Voice -- The strange jumpy things with whiskers (bunnies?)
Keese -- The bat?
I'm not sure whether they were all in the same room. You may have some luck googling on these names.

The Zelda series is brilliant. Out of all games I would rank Ocarina of Time the second greatest of all time.
I am buying a Wii just because of Zelda.... and Brawl.

That was just a bad rumor, he actually did die in a car accident, I don't remember the date, but people have been apologizing for calling it a fake.
