Blizzard Entertainment enters the tabletop market

I can't imagine this will take off in any way, but its worth mentioning. Maybe we'll be able to pick up a few good looking models (Night Elfs pained as Druchii?) before they give up on this idea ;)

 That is the worst paint job to actually have on figures you plan to sell!!! I think that really just looks like someone who just finished kindergarten painted the figures!

If they don't have someone to paint well I doubt they'll actually be able to make real good looking models for DE.

Oh hell no...Even if it was a good paint job, I wouldn't be found within one mile of any store that sold them.

Wait...It's an alright paint job. They got the same look going as they look in the game. But I think that it's a way to somehow usurp Warhammer Online or a useless way to make money.

First off, I had a friend who played the WoW CCG and he taught me over a few games and it was actually pretty cool... some way imba combos but the idea was there.

as for the miniatures, I'm assuming that they will re pre painted models for a DnD esque game. Who knows if I'm right?!

I don't know how to react to this. Part of me wants to laugh and another wants to say well it could be good. I guess we will have to see how the rules and gamplay are.

Blizzard should definetly stick to computor games.

I will try to point out the silver lining here if there is one...
If more people play are attracted to table top gaming, they will eventually be attracted to the better table top games. So we can think of this as an intro game that will bring more people into the warhammer gaming community eventually. That should be a good.
Those paint jobs are pretty flat looking, it looks like the minis in that game heroscape.

Mass produced prepaints will never be of high quality. High quality can only be done by the hand of man. Take that, Skynet!

In my local store, lots of people who start out buying those neat little D&D minis end up drifting across to have a look at the GW stuff. And then they buy some of those. There is hope in Lowcash's suggestion.

Good luck to them. It doesn't seem GW is particularly interested in heroquest, space hulk, talisman etc at the moment so hopefully companies like this can come in and run with the 'pick up and play' mini games.

My hobby shop was a little weird. It wasn't the minis people who shifted over to warhammer, but the Magic and Yu-gi-oh people. But either we got new players anyway, which is nothing to complain about.

But my opinion of this WoW minis game being an epic fail still stands

I doubt this will be much of a success.

I mean, most WoW players won't get off their computers and waste valuable gaming time. "Time is money, friend!", as the goblins so fittingly say in WoW.

But it could be beneficial for Warhammer, of course.

For the record D&D skirmish miniatures are pre-painted by hand in china. Also note that modern machines are much better at accurately detailing something than the average person is.

These don't actually look that bad (for WoW style miniatures...), but they are master paints and not production line ones. If the production line produces stuff like that then they'll be of a higher quality than the majority of stuff I see in my local GW on Vet's night. Also look at the name behind the paint scheme. If you don't recognise that name then you haven't been doing this long enough.

Finally, Blizzards Warcraft brand, despite all the glaring flaws with it, is still gaining strenght in all areas. This will be a success.

Intresting..... I was actually thinking of making armour based off warcraft 3 cinematics since the armour looks sick there. But these, god, i do not like.

Arq : oops, I got the impression that these would be machine painted, and that McVey would just be designing the paint schemes. It's true that most tabletop armies that I have seen, are (if painted at all) painted rather hastily. People can paint better than machines if they wish, but many are not that keen.

What I think this will hinge on, is the quality of the game itself. Warhammer Fantasy is still easily the best tabletop wargame out there. If they can get close to GW on that point, then people who don't care for painting (or indeed buying loads of expensive models) will be more than happy to buy into it.

I doubt this will be succesful but I must say i'm a little insulted

WoW® Minis figures have a level of detail that's unmatched by any other product on the market.

They look like WoW characters in that cartoony fantasy way. But it won't sell specially if the WoW players think ohh thats not the way the sword of a thousand truths works in the game. Now the real thing is this will Loves to Spooge be a character?

Why? It's become a brand. Possibly the trading card game was not a storming succes, but it's being sold at least 3 places in my city; and my city is not very big. Nevermind whether people will actually play the game; but what about those people who wears WoW t-shirts, buys the special editions of the game and it's expansions, those people who just wants to own everything with the WoW label? It's a brand, and they can sell it.

It's honestly very much not. The aforementioned D&D skirmish is a much more fun game simply because it's portable enough to play in the pub or on a train table or whatever. It's also rather nice and has a huge amount of variety to it.
