Salamander attacks - Not a skirmish question!
Hey this could be an incredibly silly question, but I need to have the errata for my ladder game this weekend. Salamanders "spout flames" but it doesn't say that it counts as a "flamming attack." I just wanted someone who knows to give me a definite answer. Does it have to say "flamming attack" or is it if it says "flame, fire, etc..." in it's name that it counts as flamming?

You'll have to find someplace in some FAQ where is actually says that the attacks count as flaming attacks to gain that ability, regardless of the fact that they are indeed spitting fire. It doesn't mention it in the army book though, so if that's the only source people can come up with, you're SOL.

so they "spit fire," but because it doesn't say "counts as a flame attack" or "this attack is considered flaming" It doesn't merit the bonuses of fire attacks? It seems kind of ridiculous that it wouldn't count.. I just thought that because it was SO obvious that it was flaming it wouldn't need that errata in the text.

I think people would be unsporstmanlike to say they're NOT flammin0 attacks.. It says "spits FIRE!!!!!" why should it have to clarify that? I would think if ANYTHING it would need a specifying line saying that it's NOT flamming. Otherwise, you can't argue that it ISN'T. I think there needs to be a level of ruling that's just based of something being blatently obvious. Why should a technicality like that be able to make something COMPLETELY illogical?
One of the good listings with references was based on 6th ed. I believe.
The FAQ states..
Q. Is Salamander Spray a Fire Attack or not? The description is
unclear whether it's fire or acid.
A. The special rule is called 'Spout Flame'. Yes, it is flaming!

Games Workshop Warhammer Forum)
So yes, they are flaming attacks. Going to 7th edition would not change it unless something in 7th edition rules (or some other revised rule) would state otherwise. Personally, if a member of the Design Team gave a "judges ruling" I would be good with that.
