Talisman of Loec?

A few weeks ago I played a HE player and he used the talisman of loec. Killed what he wanted to kill, and after the battle we read through the rules again. But in the rules stands thay you may choose to re-roll the to-hit rolls, to-wound rolls, and enemy armour saves. But it doesn't say that you can re-roll the failed ones, just that you can re-roll them. For some people this might seem ruleabusement, but there are two options:

1. You may choose to re-roll all of the rolls you made

2. You may re-roll the dice you want to re-roll

Its been answered by games workshop, though it will be 'official' in the next FAQ .

You reroll to hit and to wound on any dice of the HE's choice.
Even when succesful (to get Killing Blow) but you CAN keep succesful rolls and only roll those you want.

It's 10 points, but it costs you a wound. On a 2wound model this gives half the VP to the enemy and on a prince it makes it easier to kill him.

Also its not just armour saves the target rerolls, its any save.

And compared to the items the Vamps are getting, this is nothing (:

You got a source for that?
The wording right now is clear. It says that you may re-roll all the dice. Not "unsuccessful" dice like the wording specifies for the save re-rolls (successful saves). All dice for the to hit and to wound, and successful ones for enemy saves. That's how it's worded.

If you got a FAQ that changes this wording, I'd be very happy to see it :)

Notice: This is NOT an attack on silver

But as that faq is NOT official and the wording is clear I support reading it as you read most of the rules to help your army, ^^ they must reroll all the dice.

I don't really care about others opinions on it, ill play it how its been said to play it and if someone has something against it, we'll roll a D6 and I'll score him 0 on sportsmanship.

Quite simple really.

The item is entirely useless if you have to reroll ALL the dice.
Adam Troke is a bad writer (I'll call Adam Copypaste Troke) and doesn't understand the game - or this wouldn't be a problem and neither would many other things in the HE book.

Here's a bit of a response from Jervis to you - some other sites (Warseer) and (Relic) have included the 40k stuff but I managed to glean some stuff for Fantasy too.

First off, the Talisman of Loec question especially for Ograloch: yes, we get to re-roll the to hit and to wound rolls of our choice, even if they're successful. You may begin to offer me your undying love publicly my good man (sorry it took a few days to post it up). Basically he said that the item would be useless if it worked any other way.

But Jervis is NOT an official FAQ. Sorry but hes not and you should play with it how the book says, not how some GW employee says when he probably didnt talk to the actualy writers of the book about it. And no, for ten points it isnt nearly worthless because you can use it if you fluff your attacks... Do you really think its that cheap and is meant to do that?

Sigh.
Whatever (:
The author of the High Elf book did a crap job. So many annoying debates on items and rules. I'll play it my way, you people play it how you think its played.

And I'll say it again, the new High Elf book is a very poor work.

Also, its 10 points for a ONE USE ONLY that deals you a wound to be allowed to reroll To Hit To Wound and make your opponent reroll any saves.

High Elf items are supposed to be cheaper than other armies, I think the price fits what it should do as Jervis said. And yes, the item is useless if you cannot choose which dice you reroll.

Sorry to say this, but that was in the last edition, there is nothing supporting this now. Stuff/fluff changes with every edition..

Well, as do Empire, atleast the stone is 20 for them

As do O&G, they have a biting blade for 5 pts!? Sword of Might: 10 pts!!!
The items are made more expensive/cheaper to support the fluff IMHO, O&G are an offensive race, so the common magic weapons are cheaper, but the Enchanted shield with 15 pts is more expensive..
