[To moderators - I placed this topic here in the ideas forum together with other CoS topics, though if you believe it should go to painting & modelling forum or elsewhere, feel free to move it]

This is the place for photos of Cult of Slaanesh miniatures. I'm sure those of you who played 6th ed CoS still have the miniatures, even if you switched to regular DE rules now, why not let the others see and admire your work? :) And if you intend to use our Cult of Slaanesh 7th ed. list, then I think it'd be all the nicer to have your own army presented in the book. ;)

READ THIS BEFORE POSTING IN THIS TOPIC

The main purpose of this topic is to have all needed photos in one place. To maintain clearity all post should follow below rules:

1. Please post photos rather than indirect links.

2. Size of the photos placed shouldn't exceed 800 pixels on any dimension (in other words it should fit in 800x800 pixel square)

3. However, it would be good if the original resolution of the file was considerably bigger - good quality printing resolution is a couple of times bigger than that of the on-screen viewing (and the aim is to have both 'light' .pdf version of AB for digital use, as well as 'quality' printable one).

4. Miniatures should be presented in a suitable way - single miniatures on plain white or 'fading color' background, units and armies either the same or on a diorama/terrain. Basically - see official ABs or WD if in doubt of how should the photo look - we don't need Golden Daemon nor even Heavy Metal painting quality (though that would be nice ;) ), but photos need to be good. You can also check coolminiornot site (there are a couple of miniature photography tutorials there too).

Of course you might have unpainted conversions or WIP miniature photos; these are interesting too, though rather post them in the Painting and Modelling forum, just giving a linky here (and don't forget to post the photo here when the work's finished ;) )

Now, important thing is that, in case of miniatures I think we can expect more competition than it is with pictures/art. The place for miniatures is a bit more limited (though with advantage of colour). Also, while only few CoS players do the drawing/graphics, most of us own painted miniatures of this army (and of those many are truly beautiful).

So please share your works with us here. When we get to final stage of producing full AB .pdf the best ones will be chosen (probably by voting) from those published here.

A bit of reapeating from 'CoS - Art' thread, but this part is IMO important:
Pictures published here are effect of hard work and we all also have chance to comment on others work it's important to keep some things in mind:

1. When commenting on other people's work:
- if you criticise the picture, give the reasons why you don't like it.
- the same is true for positive comments. 'OMG Shocked' or 'Wow! It's brilliant!' is much nicer for the author than 'It sucks!' but all of these don't help him to improove his work in any way.
- be honest, but polite. The first part is obvious - don't say that you like the picture when you don't. But remember that honesty is not an excuse for rudness. 'I don't like this one, it's too sketchy for my taste' is both nicer and more informative than 'To be honest, I can't even make out what this crap is supposed to be.'

2. When it's your artwork being spoken about:
- Be open to critique. No matter how hard you've work on your picture and how good it is there are probably still aspects in which it can be better. Or it can simply not fit some people's tastes. Considering their opinion certainly won't hurt, even if you decide to disagree afterwards.
- Remember that opinion is about work, not you. That's very simple, yet often forgot: a critique of your work, even a harsh one, simply show's that someone doesn't like your one particular picture, style maybe. It sill is nothing personal.

On a final note - I think that it'd be good to also check coolminiornot for best slaaneshi painted models and ask painters for permission to use them. This way we could adorn our AB with pearls like this:

Now, don't let this example discourage you - it's not like GW's AB are filled up with Golden Daemon-level stuff. ;) A miniature notch or two below this level is still admirable work. So let the world see your followers of Slaanesh. Hail to the Pleasure God! ;)

Here are some photos of miniatures by Ragian Caine (copied from main CoS thread in Druchii Discussion)

IMO the miniatures themselves look good - most are intersting conversion and even unconverted ones are painted on solid level (I particularly like vivid colours of Devoted with head & Daemonette).

However the photos could be better - half of them is a bit of out focus and all are rather dark (with background getting more light than the model. I think Frontal shot of the Effigy, the Anointed and maybe the Sorceress can be corrected sufficiently in photoshop, but as for others probably retaking photos would be better.

Would that be possible, Ragian? I hope you still own those minis?
