For anyone that has been having trouble with the tavern over the last few days, this is why. Virtually the entirety of eu.gamesurge.net was not responding last night, and I had to switch to a US server just to get *into* the tavern.
Due to the nature of this sort of attack, and the way the java clients connect, it is currently highly un-likely that anyonewill be able to connect from any of the web site clients, but if you wish to persevere and try, Ctrl-F5 is your friend (you will have to click outside the tavern box on asur, and Druchii won't do it at all) because that resets the connection.
In the mean time, there is no telling how long gamesurge will be under attack. DDoS stands for Distributed Denial of Service BTW. If you want to read more, http://www.grc.com/dos/grcdos.htm is a fascinating read, and explains quite a lot about DDoS attacks.
If any of the Tavern ops read this: Do NOT set mode +m (Moderated) on the chat until Gamesurge has cleared this. There is no guarantee of the presence of ChanServ, and as such people are not always being voiced or oped correctly on entry.

This irc crap has never worked properly. I never understood why Kitrik kept raving about how good it is, with its clunky, primitive 8-bit interface and lack of proper colour support. Even our original PHP chatroom, for all its failings, will still bury this piece of shite out of sight !
So let's have it back now - if only as a backup

Well the IRC chat works for my new computer, but definetly not for my old labtop. So perhaps it has something to do with the Programs a computer has at the moment.

I'll use alternating channels until something happens about IRC as it's down all time, even when the hacking isn't occuring. I'd support a move back to the old one, though I didn't use it much I know it was better than this. But nothing can happen until either we find out where Nag is or he shows up.

There is also chatzilla if you use a superior web browser like firefox. It's nothing special, but it's a bit prettier than the DOS-like mirc and has picture smilies too!

It's available to users of Firefox (What? There are people out there not using it? Good loyalists, them lot !), Mozilla and Netscape. As far as I know, it is platform independent (outside of the aforementioned browsers).
ChatZilla is ok, its what i use. its fairly basic but it works which is the all important thing. Got basis smilies and can see colours (havent figured out how to use colours though...).
All this last week, I'm seeing the chatroom die at almost exactly the same time of day - 1am give or take a few minutes - does anyone have any ideas on why this might be the case ?
I mentioned this to a few people in the chat last night when it happenned, and it's just happened again, at almost exactly 1am...
Reconnecting to the server is very hard, sometimes impossible for many hours following these events.

What the chatters want, they get when Nagi isn't there Nah, jokes aside, I still belive the chat should be a lot more free than the sites, which means adult jokes with some fine tone. No need to be overdramatic about tem.
Anyhow, enough ranting from me. Back to the topic at hand.
