Yeah, sure, why not? Its magic. ;) It actually works quite well when you give him blood armour as well and if you feel you've got enough armour, give him the wand as well. You'll get that 1+ armour save in no time and you make him a real missile platform.

yeah the always hits on a 2+ overrules the normal modifiers to shooting, including everything from skirmishers and cover to long range and multishot.

Yes, you can certainly fly around and shoot.

If your goal is to be a missle platform you should go with a noble on Pegasus instead.

thank you all. Yet it seems that if not on a dragon, recognising the higher cost of the dragon, you reduce the fear and terror aspects of this game. So why not try to do it all with this as the druchii dragon seems more fragile than say a chaos dragon and such. It seems psyc, is really a part of the druchii game.

I guess what i mean is why not fly up close to a tough unit, causing a panic, and if they run, then shoot them as well. Seems like the Druchii way doesn't it?

The benefit of using lifetaker (and the wand) on a dragon over a pegasus is that you can see over units and pick out anything you want to shoot - that's invaluable IMO.

Don't forget the breath weapon - I don't think these missiles make bad use of him. You can fly within 6" of several units, fire lifetaker, wand, breath weapon, and you're still causing terror checks.

I don't know why some people mentioned that psychology is part of the druchii game when units take far less psychology tests in the 7th ed. well i still respect your statement though.

Agree. Add all these plus a halberd makes the highborn a tough foe to beat

Heres a question, how effective do you think this set up would be against wood elves?

I think it would not be to good. Highborns on Dragons are meant to be CC monsters. You are wasting points with the lifetaker as it anyways. It isn't very good.

Lifetaker is good because the dragon is a bigger threat out of combat because it forces how your opponent reacts is important. So the shooting is beneficial for 3 turns and then the dragon can commit.

cheers rob

Stay away from the tree.
Shoot away wildriders and/ or wardancers.
Use the dragon to go after glade riders/ archers,
Take dryads one unit at a time with 2 chariots or a unit of CoK's

Something I forgot?

If you have the points, do it. As someone pointed pointed out, since the dragon is a large target, you can pick out models for shooting that you might otherwise not be able to see. And a dragon used properly normally is not in combat straight away, so you will have a chance to use Lifetaker. Definitely take it against Skaven and especially against Vampire COunts so you can snipe Banshees.
