Yeah people like that watch too much anime and thus trash talk.

- What they dont realise however that talking trash and being a jerk in anime makes one cool, doing it in real life makes you look like a retard.

If its a tournament setting then just say the bare minimum imo. Then beat them up with your mates when the tournament is over 8) That should teach them that real life is not Anime, and that they are not Seto Kaiba

When I played 15 mm historical it was much worse, as it usually had cash prizes and winning was the only judged criteria (no such thisg as sportsmanship).

The solution? Piano wire spears and lances :)

Shove the models into contact a bit hard and you take the paint off his figures, he picks up your figures the wrong way and spears himself and starts bleeding everywere :)

Compared to that enviroment it really isn't an issue in warhammer. There are a few kids that carry on, but its mostly older guys, who should know better, that think winning a game of toy soldiers is somehow significant.

The "usuals" at my tournament usually take up about half of the roster, and decide to pick one of their friends to vote for each trophy, so unless everyone else gangs up on them and can outvote them, four of the friends will walk away with trophies.

one of them complains at everything. In a 40k tournament a tyranid player got best painted (the scheme was the basic red and green). One of the other players starting yelling about how the winner stole his paint scheme, and everyones like "look at your tyranid book! no one stole anything from you!"

I wouldn't be surprised if someone smacked him for saying that. This game relies heavily on luck so he should just think about what he is saying to a seasoned Veteran Dark elf player. Unless he plays dwarves, I would so want to crush him into the ground.

I think I've heard about a thousand times "If you go with De you'll loose"...

I don't know how it works in your countries... I've heard that in England and also other countries there is a sort of "code" and so everyone tends not to extremize his list (I've heard about many players that don't duplicate the rare choice and so on...) and that tournaments usually are played with many elements, 6-8 per table... i'd like to hear if it's not so because I surely don't know much of international tournaments and their standards...

What I can say is that in Italy it doesn't happen, so in a "no limits" tournament you'll find: double steam tank and 3 cannons with templairs and elector count on chariot for the empire, Sad list for skaven with at least 2 tunnel squad, Bretonnians army with 3 units of pegasus and at least other 7 lances, Teclis of course in EVERY He list, always the Anvil for dwarves with Thorek, so it's clear that with less terrain elements (we are used to take 4-5 bigger than 6/8 ) De have no choice to win... and I'm talking about De list all with dragon, 4 RBT and non on foot troops... in the last gt at the 5^ match (6 in total) we where positioned on table 86, 94, 101, 104 (the tables where 105)...

Now it's clear we cannot match with other armies on "open ground", but I've to say that this makes me love this army... first point I think we've got the best mins in all warhammer fantasy (and that's the reason why I'm collecting De) and second this is an army that not everyone can use...

Over that it is surely needed and adjustement to our army, if only to see next gt someone matching with at least dwarves!!!

Yeah its called "Beardiness".

Aka those unscrupulous people who will push the letter of the rules to the limit to get every advantage and do not play in the spirit of the rules. At all. The most hated kind of Wargamer. They are called Beardy and shunned by the community.

As far as I can tell, the only oter army that is underpowered is the Ogre Kingdoms. They look amazing on paper (S4, W3, M6, cause fear) but are actually a finesse army. They also happen to be the other army that I play that people laugh at when brought out at tournaments. But like DE, they do AMAZING in the right situatuins, and fail in a lot of others...

Well at least you don't have Adam Troke writing your book.
I don't know the guy but seeing the really poor job he did on the high elf book, which I play and have played for close to 8 years.....

Sigh..

Always Strikes First is not all that amazing and we pay the price in points for it (15 for heroes, 5 for mages, 25 for prince) and in weakness of T3 and paper armor (White Lions and Swordmasters). Plus the item list didn't get a revision, the few things added or modified did not get any 'point discount' like high elves usually have and of course the removal of limits (0-1 on Dragon Princes) makes for very beardy lists.

So what I'm going to do is.. play Druchii the second the new book is out (:

Heh i recognise you from Uthuan .org

the guy who argued about the Swordmaster ASF rulings right.

Yeah your book design has flaws but its competitive with decent fluff in it at least right?

But all elves get paper armour tho ..well non "Blade Mastery" ones anyway lolz. Ironic that you wanted to play Druchii , cos I was tempted for about a minute to play Asur, till I realised that i havent got the, time, the money, or the energy. Starting afresh is so hard and the grass is rarely greener on the other side they say, even though it really seems so.

Awesome Silver, can't wait to see your Druchii Painty Boyz. Have your High Elves faced the Druchii themsleves yet? ASF doesn't help you guys much, I know, you're still paper armoured squishy elves, but so are we - it hits us pretty hard. Doesn't hurt the Wood Elves too bad, they pretty much stay out of combat, except for with Forest Spirits, who have the toughness to live with it. But all we can send at you with real hope now is Chariots and Dragons. Hopefully it will all change in a year or so. It probably doesn't matter much which Dev is in charge, they all pretty much work together any way, yeah? All I ask for is better magic phase, and/or better cc phase. Movement is ok, shooting is below average but useable, it's magic and combat where we're in trouble.

Layne.

I have faced Druchii once, last tuesday, and lost by a Minor Victory.

Reasons? My balanced list is not my usual playstyle.
I'm used to all cavalry and dragon from 6th edition and made a balanced list of 7th edition which is also forced to use infantry. I really didn't play my infantry the way they are supposed to be played.. oh well, I'll learn from my mistakes (:

Crawd is the one I play against.

Handmaiden: not sure if I ever argued about ASF, I'm Silver on Ulthuan, Da Warpath and Ogrestronghold (and banned on TWF). Speaking of starting afresh.. I used to have 2500 pts painted, now most of it has been stripped or put on shelves for new models ;p

Not ASF itself , but the issue of ASF vs ASF and should Swordmasters strike last or first as they revert to initiative. I remember you from that argument, remember saying naa that guys wrong! :o

Cant debate it though, I;m a little overmatched in trying to convince three ppll that WItch Elves should ASF too lol. I dont like playing with Roadkill ha.

Might be in a minorety here but I really like the book we have now. Sure it's not a power house, but if you have a look at the stuff Gav did in last edition it was the most balanced books. If all the other books had been done by him the game itself would have been alot better. The DE book is only bad if compared to the books that where "broken" or "OTT". IMO the biggest problem with the game is that different designers do different books instead of one team under one designer dooing them all.

Oh, and since we are dooing silly wishings I'd like to give a shout out for the beastmasters becomming lvl1 mages with the lore of beasts!

You know, that lvl 1 lore of beasts idea is so simple, yet a pretty sweet idea, I would like it. But then again I would like any idea that involved more magic!

The view of my store manager is that ASF is a blacket elf rule so we will all have it when new books are released.

Otherwise a new plasic - dragon stat- hydra, possibly at the expense of dragons

CoKs and CoCs will be plastic.

At least one new rare unit.

Thanks for the infos (rumors) Rabidnid, but ASF for all elves? ARG that wouldnt be fun in my opinion, this would overpower us and the Wood Elves too.

I would like to have a special unit more instead of a rare unit, I need the rare choices for RBTs and the BG.

Gav Thorpe is a good bloke. He's got a lot of balls in the air, and sometimes he can do a minor mistake. He's only human afterall. I have full confidence in Gav and his elaborate team of PlayTesters.

Is our site gonna get to play test for GW again? I wasn't a DE player back then and I don't know what happened.

No. The playtesting is almost finished now.

And enough with the Gav bashing or I'll lock the thread. This is old hat now and if you take the trouble to read the early revision project notes you'll see the truth behind the original book

If any store employee insults my army i'd tell em to get bent lol, but ya I know the type , the big fat jolly eccentric manager who yells across the store...ya we have them too in Nottingham.

Case n point. My little brother goes into the Store for the first time and as soon as he enters one of the employess walked up to him and was like..

WHADDYA LIKE SPACE MARINES!!??

He never went again XD

Yeah these remind me of one time I walked into a new GW store. I walked in to get a ..... oh what was it??? Oh .. a Dark Eldar Syrabrite that I was going to convert into a Dracon. And this GW employee walks up to me:

Him - "Can I help you look for something."
Me - "Ah no thank you, I think I found what I was looking for."
Him - "You play Dark Eldar?"
me - "ahhh Yeah .... "
him - "They ROCK!!!"
Me (a slight shocked look cause he yeahed "ROCK" rather loud) - " Ahhh yeah"
him - "You play any other army?"
me - "Ahh ...... Yeah ... Eldar."
him - "Yeah they ROCK too!!"
me (starting to fight the urge to not laugh at this guy) - "Yeah"
him - "You play any more armies?"
me (made the choice to plunge into the water and see where I could take this) - "Yeah I have a couple fantast armies too."
him - "Really which ones?"
Me - "well ... ahh .. Dark Elves ... "
Him - "Oh they ROCK!!"
Me - "Yeah a High Elf Army"
him - "They ROCK too!!!"
me - "And I just finished up my Dogs of War"
him - "Yeah they look like they ROCK!!"
me - "Ahh yeah they do, and I'm starting a Lizard man army."
him - "Wow those really ROCK!!!"
me (Really red faced from trying not to laugh) - "yeah ahhh ... I have to go I'll be right back."

I went outside and laughed my back end off .... I don't play all those armies ... just wanted to see if he would continue to yell out ROCK ... and he did yell it out a LOT.

The pleasant surprise is the April Release Schedule

26th - Demon Armybook, Demon Codex

Much much sooner than expected.
We can hope for a end-of-summer or fall release for the Druchii book.
