Hm... Actually chimera, that is illegal as The Banner of Nagarythe gives the unit unbreakable. As a hero is a unit of 1 and therefore unbreakable he cannont join the spearmen as unbreakable heroes cant join non unbreakable units. wow

Ok, should we do this seriously? I mean, like compare points, whats the optimal US for BG in common games? Are they an ideal choice? What's the pros and cons? I can start a little small.

PROS
High str compared to other units (4)
Stubborn (Makes em good anvils)
Eternal hatred (Packs a punch, but can open a flank on em).

CONS
Quite high cost (Is the high cost really worth it?)
Die just as easy as spear elves (5+save T3)
Eternal Hatred (Will have to pursue)

My question is - how often does the BSB get specifically targetted and killed?

If you put him on a COK, gave him heavy armor and SDC, that is a 2+ hand to hand, 1+ against shooting (think Hochland Long rifles or dwarf engineers that might take pot shots at him) AND the unit he joins is immune to fear (does not cause fear and get autobreaking, but can't be autobroken either) and anyone wanting to charge it takes a test - and if you charge they take a test.

Of course, we could all go stupid and move 2.5 inches forward etc. It is a risk.

So you have a unit of spears with the BSB who is unbreakable, and Black Guard within 12 inches (preferably 6 so they get plus 1). Black Guard can still flee IF that was to your advantage, but your unbreakable unit can't.

Take a DOW giant, just make sure he is far enough away he can't fall on your BSB if the worst happens.

You have one unbreakable and two stubborn units.

Maybe paing up an old Barbie as a witch elf and use her as the giant.
