Count Harpy pts as core %?

Heya!

Would you say the points for harpies counts towards the required 25% core limit?

Reading through the rules it seems the points cost of harpies should count towards the required 25%, despite the fact that they did not count towards the minimum amount of choises in 7:th.

The relevant rule is (p.95); "Harpies does not count towards the minimum number of Core units you must include in your army". With an emphasis on "minimum number" (which is no longer relevant), it is easy to argue that their points should indeed count.

Also note that the Assassin have a similar rule ("...does not fill any character or Core selections..."), but have been covered by the errata to not count towards the Core percentage.

Well, personally I would not count harpies in the 25% core.

Sure, technically, 25% is not a number but a percentage, but if you start your battle with this extreme RAW argument, then expect the whole battle to be interrupted with cheap RAW disputes.

I suggest also as a reference page 2, the text in the extreme left bottom.

Well, it is clearly an outdated rule now, and since there's nothing in the FAQ about it, I'd count it. Strictest RAW you could get on this means that perhaps the Harpies unit can't be one of the minimum three units on the board.

Harpies are tallied just like Assassins...

that is they count for nothing, other than army total. They don't satisfy minimum core, but don't count as anything else either.

I'd have to go with fuzzy.

It doesn't say to remove the sentence about Harpies not counting for core.

Therefore harpies share the assassin's "Their points are included in the total points value of the
army, but do not count towards the minimum or maximum
number of points allowed for any category of unit (Lords,
Heroes, Core, Special or Rare).”

If they wanted Harpies to count for core %, it'd state "Pg # - remove "Harpies do not count for core blah blah blah"

It's not in the FAQ because it's in the main rulebook. page 134.

Harpies (and assassins, warhounds and all the other units with the same limitation) count towards none of the categories, only to the total points cost of the army.
