To ally, or not to ally!

Hey guys!

I am here with some questions for you all!

Have you used the allies rules to make a single army with two races?
Is it worth it having allies with our Druchii?
And who would you use to reinforce our evil army?

I played 3 allied games (with 2 players on each side). Fun.

The problem with druchii is that alliances become weak real quick, which makes our magic phase very difficult, whatever the ally.
If your opponents have a solid alliance, their magic phase (offensive or defensive) will be so strong as to let you helpless.
If your opponent agrees to play only weak alliances, then it can be fun.

Obviously, you would look for what DE are lacking, i.e. numerous cheap slaves and warmachines. Goblins can do that.
Or you could go for a 1+ core cavalry. Brets and Empire got them.

Be sure to define what your COB can bless beforehand. RAW allows the COB to bless a skink or a goblin when it does not work on a harpy nor a manticore. That is so unfluffy that it should be avoided (especially if your opponent obliges by taking weak alliances himself).

Why can you not bless a manticore? Not that anyone uses them but still I'd like to know where this comes from?
