Simple rules question regarding unit positioning

Post by Saddleskull »

Played a game against WoC last night (was a group of us) and a situation came up that a few of us had differing opinions on. (after checking the rulebook)

Situation...

My CoK unit was attacked by a single WOC warrior on the outermost CoK... my dark elf lord was in the centre of the CoK, but due to the position, i was told that in this round, and following rounds, my lord could not engage the warrior, only the CoK's on base contact with him...

scenario CW Chaos warrior CK Cold one knights DL Dark elf lord

Cw

This seemed right for the 1st round of combat (as he moved the CW into my knights), but for the following rounds, is it possible to re-position my forces so my DL can attack the CW ?

we had mixed opinions on this...

Is it possible or not?

Characters have "Make way" rule. They can move model in base contact - even a command group model - to get in combat. That happens even before impact hits. BRB page 100. So you can even attack with DL in first round of combat.
Excuse is like an asshole, everybody has one.

Plus he didn't maximize contact if I'm not mistaken.

Shouldn't it have been?

So either way. By make way or by proper alignment of the charge DL would've been attacking anyways.
