Best Allies for druchii???

Post by Sun-tzu »

Ok my flgs is running a tournament that allows allies. The rules are:

You can only choose core or special units for your allies
Points come from your rare allocation

So what do you guys think would go well with a druchii army if anything.

My area has no comp so if you run dual hydra in 2500 it only leaves 275 points for said allied unit/units

I'm considering flamers but that cuts into my combat troops. So may not take anything at all but would like to see what others would take and why.

hmm, how about some hard hitting troops, like ... Bulls or Leadbelchers maybe :p

Or HE Swordmasters maybe, if they still have ASF that is :p

But it is a hard choice, considering that you have to take them as rare

I don't know what your army is but there are some good choices in WoC that will complement your combat troops on foot with something a little more resilient. 13 halberd wielding khorne warriors would be my choice.

Perhaps some Vampire Count ethereals could prove effective, and a few cheap beastmen chariots would also appreciate our high Ld.

Powerful skaven toys (though I honestly have no idea which are special) might be useful, cheap blocks of slaves -stubborn on our Ld- might be devastating anvil units to tie up anything while Druchii forces pour into the flanks.

You could even load up with cheap O&G war machines but it may not suit your play style.

This is a great opportunity that other competitors are sure to take advantage of, so I strongly recommend you capitalise on it =)

I'd go for Imperial Cannons and Knightly Orders.
We lack non stupid (relatively) cheap knights, and black powder weapons.

Skaven could be fun as long as their War machines don't misfire.

275 points of Skaven Slaves.

Thanks for the input. I forgot to put in the clause that forces of order can only have forces of order allies. Forces of destruction can only have forces of destruction allies. So de can have o&g, skaven, vc, woc, demons. Tk and ogres are neutral so can be allied with anyone.

Hmmm I forgot about slaves.

This is what I run:

Lvl 4 dagger life taker seal of ghrond shadow
Cob bsb
Master peg pok gw dragon helm full mundane

20 corsair SSS musician
20 xbow shield banner musician
20 spears full command discipline

30 we musician flame banner
20 black guard musician bom

Hydra
Hydra

6 harpies
6 harpies

Don't know where to shave points.

Seeing what you have, you lack high S attacks and fast troops.
Ogres could be handy. Daemons too, (make your army a cult of Slaanesh). WoC may be what would provide the best complement.

You'd have to define whether COB works on allies.
RAW, yes. Fluff, no.

Are those new VC monstrous infantry any good?, or like said above, etherals would be a nice surprise.

I'm not sure the points your looking at, but your list is lacking heavy hitters. If you only have a few points you could take units of 6 Monstrous Infantry or even unit of 5 Monstrous Cavalry.

I they can use General and BSB Chaos Trolls are a great shout, 210pts for 6, if not 6 Ironguts for 252pts is a badass. If you have pushing on 300 points I'd take 5 Demi Gryph Knights, the combo of lots of S5 attacks, (S6 for Lance guys on back), relatively fast moving, T5, 1+ Sv would make them VERY tempting.

I'd go with some form of MC, or Chaos knight's.
