Shades protection vs. Magic

Post by Lorddrittz »

So I was thinking if I ran 3 x 10-18 Shades an easy way to kill them might be Magic Missiles.

Unit 1
Assassin with Ring Hotek MR3, Dark Venom, XHW, 10 Shades GW's

Unit 2
Assassin with Obsidian Lodestone MR3, Potion Foolhardiness, Dark Venom, XHW, 10 Shades GW's

Unit 3
Assassin with Obsidian Amulet MR2, Another Tricksters Shard, Dark Venom, XHW, 10 Shades GW's

Just remember that the Assassins will have to show up on turn 1 for protection, hopefully you will get first turn too.

Ye so getting the +1 to go first could be important so limit the number of drops.

4 x RBT's count as 1 drop :)

you are paying 125 points for magic protection, that's almost as much as another 10 shades.

Put a smallish unit of shades on the table and they will surly be noticed by the enemy general. They will be noted as a nuisance that he will have to deal with in some way. The reason I dont like to play vs those kind of unit myself, is that they are hard to get rid off, and you might end up giving away a lot of chaff trying to accomplish it. Thus the shades earn their points worth back.

Bump the shades units into larger sizes, the amount of damage they deal is so great that they absolutely need to be dealt with. The opponent simply cannot send in chaff to do it, so he wont. Instead he will use everything he has that can get the job done. If he does not have the tools needed then great, good for you, you just won the rock paper scissors war. But if he does, be ready to loose a lot of shades.

I would not go for large units, that has no static ress, and add the price of the new assassins to it on top of that to get MR. Its just to much points, that "FORCES" attention - that the unit does not want to begin with.
