Eze'chira's Dark Horde (DE 2000)

well now, let's see. som notes:
I designed this army for tournament play. A take all comers list. It's meant to not be cheesy, but not too soft either. I think I accomplished this pretty well. It also plays in 4 of the 5 phases of the game (movement, magic, shooting and close combat. but very little in the psychology phase...) it gets a decent comp score, using the comp system for the local tournaments.
I've already used the army in 5 practice battles against 5 different armies. (HE, TK, Skaven, Empire and Lizzies) the battles all ended in massacres in my favour. (I had 2000-2800 VP's my opponent had 100-400 VP's) The only type of army I see myself having some trouble against is a gunline. that could pose quite some problems...
The army takes great advantage of the elven speed and some semi-MSU tactics. There are a few blocks of 16 spearmen but everything in the list is sacrificable and low in costs. no unit in the list is worth more than 153 points (except the 2 sorceresses) the only unit that would hurt to loose is the spearelf unit containing the noble. If an opponent breaks that and runs it down that's 483 VP's (general, standard and points costs for unit and noble) but even that is sacrificable if I can gain something from it.
I play very aggressively with any army, which would be the explanation for the lack of shooting units. they're too static for my tastes (the reason for the single reaper is to have as few units that have to stand still as possible. although I miss having 2 of them... but at least one is pretty much needed)
Ok. enough notes for now, so without further ado, let's go to the list itself:
Ezechira's Dark Horde
Heroes:
Eze'chira Awenari @ 130 pts
Dark elf noble
General, Heavy armour, Sea Dragon Cloak,
Sword of Might, Shield of Ghrond
Noble adds a little hitting power where needed.
Arezien Isania @ 175 pts
Dark elf Sorceress lvl 2
Darkstar Cloak, Dispel Scroll
Ilmarith Siandren @ 180 pts
Dark elf Sorceress lvl 2
Seal of Ghrond, Dispel Scroll
Sorceresses are there to give me a decent
magic offence as well as decent defence.
I'm not going overboard in this department.
Core:
Rain of lethality @ 120 pts
10x Dark elf warriors
rxb's, shields.
Simple fire support.
Can help in combat if necessary as well.
Harbingers of Pain @ 153 pts
16x Dark elf warriors
Shields, Full command
Harbingers of Despair @ 153 pts
16x Dark elf warriors
Shields, Full command
Harbingers of Misery @ 153 pts
16x Dark elf warriors
Shields, Full command
CR generators. and sometimes they act as really juicy baits.
Swift Suffering @ 127 pts
5x Dark riders
rxb's, musician
Swift Menace @ 127 pts
5x Dark riders
rxb's, musician
Mage hunting, flanking, harassing, march blocking, baiting...
Simply put. You name it, these guys can do it.
To think I actually didn't like these a few years ago...
Talons of Khaine @ 120 pts
12x Corsairs
Simple. Flankers!
And you really HAVE to have some of these wonderful models...
Special:
Merciless Death @ 122 pts
10x Executioners
Champion
Flanker. Can also deal with knights and high toughness targets if necessary.
Masters of Torment @ 130 pts
10x Witch elves
Flanker. I love rolling a bucketload of dice...
who doesn't love these frightening ladies?
I'd love to put a hag with manbane in there but sadly,
I don't have the points for it.
The Dark Sprites @ 65 pts
5x Harpies
Mainly mage hunters and war machine crew hunters.
I rarely use them for anything else but sometimes they kill a skink skirmisher squad or two
if i'm fighting undead they can't do much other than try to attack mages and claim quarters...
Jaws of Khaine @ 145 pts
5x Cold one knights
Honestly.. I hate these guys... No, seriously!
They add an element of uncertainty that I really don't like.
they almost always go stupid when i don't want them to.
And on the off chance that they don't, they suffer from the rubber lance syndrome...
I hate these guys... they suck...
but then again... who can resist using these models...?
http://www.druchii.net/album_page.php?pic_id=3251
especially considering the time, effort and money spent on them...
Anyways. They're flankers and a missile target.
All knights have a psychological effect on the opponents..
Rare:
Hail of death @ 100 pts
1x Reaper bolt thrower
Gotta have one of these. best way to deal with monsters and hard stuff.
Summary:
2000 pts
7 Powerdice
5 Dispeldice + 2 scrolls
116 models, 13 deployment slots. (I love this part... )
Ok that's it. Comments, thoughts, advice on how to make it better?
Or just cudo's and a pat on the back for a nice job.
Whatever you wanna toss in there
oh and here's a link to pics of my models. feel free to comment those as well (but in the other thread of course )
