So i'm back into Dark Elves, have some models, some fluff to try follow and now have a base list for 2000pts and need advice. I'm interested in knowing whether or not this list could work... and i know that the list has no Dark Riders and i want to know if the list could work without them.

please offer all forms of advice and please tell me if the list could work and if it could work without the dark riders. also if it matters i have another unit of Repeater Crossbows kitted out the same as the frst spare.

A single lev 2 Sorceress is weak. She will have little chance to overcome the magic resistance of any army. She will be more effective as a mere level 1 scroll caddy.

18 corsairs: you could provide them the ASF or AP banneer.

14 MXB: strange number. Ususally it is more maneuvrable by 10.

5 harpies: you will miss not having more. I suggest dropping 5 MXB and buy another 5 harpies unit.

COK. Will suffer as they have no master with them. Such a high value unit, especially bearing the RoH, will be the warmachine priority target.

Execs: how do you intend to screen this fragile unit from shooting & magic?

RBT: if you could have the points for 2 of them, that will be a great enhancement to your missile phase which is not that strong.

Alternatively, you seem to have the availability of 2 units of 10 MXB.

Overall, you don't have much mobility (only 5 harpies are quick), your magic phase is not strong, you have little shooting.
You have 3 big blocks of infantry and 1 wide cavalry, how do you intend to maneuvre them not letting your opponent handle one at a time?

Any list could work without DR... provided you have many harpies/shades/hydra units. Your list is very, very slow and it may make you suffer a lot.

is there any more advice, i really need to know how to improve the list. i have some ideas for how to change it thanks to Calissons tips, but i want to know how i can make it work better.

As he is now, your BSB is rather vulnerable. a 4+ save? That won't stand up to much if he is with the corsairs. I would put him with the black guard.

I do like your dreadlord. He is like a vanilla mock up of Lokir only with some strength. Looks good.

You can't have 2 Rings of Hotek - I would give my right leg to be able to do that - but unfortunately not...

Obviously an oversight

I'm also with Druchii77 - your BSB needs a bit of armour - I'd drop the Seal of Grond and by him some Armour of Darkness.
