@Hari--lighten up Pizanno!
It was just a quick idea I had--I don't own a Chaos army book --so I have no idea what those guys cost? --it was just a thought....
I did like the thought of having a couple of rock hard (hmmmm...could have chosen better words there...) unit of Heavy Armored troops to "glue up the middle" and have some staying power while I flank with my traditional Druchii units....

Marauders only, not mounted Marauders.

I'm more stoked about having Infantry with Toughness 4....and armor!

Woo!

(even if they are slaaneshi....)

Am I right that there will be no mortal heroes of chaos?

Stupid question ( but worth askin): Will we be able to use the list even in other future campains or just this one?

I'm not sure if I am able to answer this question. What I can say is that this is a DE list not a chaos list, so DE characters are a must. No chaos being generals or anything of the sort.

Stupid question ( but worth askin): Will we be able to use the list even in other future campains or just this one?

Yes you can use all SoC lists after the campaign is over, just like with the EoT. A friend of mine still uses his Ulthewe strike force with great effect in tournaments! And I hope to do the same with the Slanneshi DE list.

As underway has said..... This is a Druchii slaanesh list..... so the core (not in game terms, but you know what I mean) will be Druchii, with some Chaos Elements along for the ride.... Add in the fact it's a Slaanesh list and it's easy to assume it must have a magical link. (It is led by Morathi after all.) Therefore to allow lots of Chaos characters wouldn't really fit the bill.... I would suggest you expect to see a very limited use of Chaos characters....
Same goes for the Chaos elements.... warriors and Knights. I would again suggest you should expect to see very limited use of these units. They will be there, but limited. It could hardly be a Druchii Slaanesh variant list with all Chaos units.....
So the question is.....

How can limited Chaos elements support a Druchii force, that has access to slaaneshi magic? that's how you should be looking at this opertunity to put together a variant army list.........

While a unit of Chaos warriors would be extreeeeemely interesting in a DE list I can't help picturing a regiment of marauders accompanying the DE force even if potentially hard hitting low armour troops aren't things a DE army lacks - its the human slave look and feel thats so appealing though...

I like the 'idea and the imagery' of Marauders too. I even have some conversion ideas floating around in my head. A friend of mine uses converted Marauders, they have Druchii heads and weapons, in his Mordheim warband and they look really good.

I think I may put a beastmaster in the rear of mine. Wipping those slaves forward. Get into combat you scum!!

Well, as a general question for someone who might not have an existing DE army (I do, but this is for 'them'). Are there any other DE units other than CoC that cannot be taken?

I would assume: Witches, Exies, Manticores, Harpies... *maybe* BG.

Is that something you can answer, from the standpoint that folks can 'focus' their modelling time on stuff that'll be usable?

I doubt the Cauldron will make it into the list. :D

DA wrote:Marauders only, not mounted Marauders.

That's odd... but understandable (not that I'd want them, when I can have DRs).

In any case, I'm looking forward to seeing what the list will look like, as I want to field an army with Heavy Cav, but I think COKs are just worthless, CKs are another story....

Being able to use Slaaneshi magic will also be quite interesting, as I might even consider fielding 6+ levels of magic with that lore, as opposed to my conventional one level.

Will have to see about Daemonettes though...

DE units 'out' -

Corsairs
Cold One Chariots
Executioners
Harpies
Witch Elves
Cauldron
Black Guard
Hydra

Any and all aspects of Khaine - Manticore, Deathmask etc

What about just a Regular Steed of Slaanesh as a mount? Be a perfect replacement for a CO for mages (Mv 10, Ward Save built in, Fear)...

And damn does this sound like a blast (now if only mounted Daemonettes were $9 a pop...)

You will just have to wait and see. I am not at liberty to divulge everything about the list. Sorry, GW's orders.

I guess it depends on how good a life you've lived. I didn't get much for mine. :|

Okay DA, since you're being the proverbial fount of information, any rumors from the inside on when the new Chaos plastics are going to be released?

This means that we have very few choices of druchii units left.
Only Darkriders
Warriors (xbow and spears)
Cold One knights
RBT.

man this is sad.

Of my current army list that would mean:
Manticore: 190
Seal of Ghrond: 25 (okay, nobody said so, but c'mon)
Corsairs: 230
Execs: 122
CoCs: 194
Harpies: 65
Total: 826/2000 = 41,3%

But why on earth are Corsairs out? Isn't this supposed to be a raiding force!? How is it that Execs are so far from it that they're left out of the list? I must say I'm quite disappointed. :( I knew some things would have to go, but this is ridiculous.

Execs celebrate and follow the aspect of Khaine as the executioner. Not so friendly with the slanneshi types.

Corsairs are out because they are too busy sailing around and fighting HE navy in the SoC to become members of a super secretive city based cult.

They were kicked out because they missed too many meetings! !lol!
