Why is all of our SOC fluff so downbeat?

GW seem to love us at the moment, never a month goes by when we dont get given new items/army lists/miniatures/mentions in WD.
However, despite all of this love heaped upon us, our writeups in the loremaster journal are always really downbeat.
This time around we are being assailed by mercenaries and being crushed by saurus legions, last time we were getting bogged down and ambushed by skinks.
The campaign is at 50/50 so were not doing as badly as all that, so why all of the portents of doom. Is there something unpleasant in store for us or is Gav just winding us up?
What do you all think.

I think that's to be expected with any invasion force.... this is what happens when you're the aggressors. When we suffer setbacks, it's looked at as a loss, when really it was just a failed attack that can be repeated over and over. If we do well, it's not looked at as a surprising victory, because people are already expecting it.

Remember, at the end of this, there's only one loser... the Lizardmen. So we lose a few armies in the jungle... big deal. No one has set foot in our homeland, and we don't have skinks on the verge of storming into Naggaroth... we can still decide to go back down there the day after the campaign and continue with the killings.

The same could have been said for the opening moves of the campaign on Middenhiem. Everything was looking very grim... but in the end, even if Chaos is beaten back, who's homeland is left in shambles? Who's cities have been razed and looted? As the attackers, the only things we have to lose is a few armies... not our entire culture.

This is the classic offense/defense argument. As the defenders, they must win every time, or they'll be continuously losing ground. As the aggressors, we can repeat our attacks over and over, without ever losing any ground.

Now that is a Speech I'd LOVE to see be made in a fluff-report to GW. Hey, if we can't win victory thru overwhelming slaughter then perhaps we can win through reasoned arguement!

If we post more fluff items like this on GW's side they may just accept that argument and ease the victory conditions for us!
