A few ideas and questions...

Post by Underway »

So for the questions

How long will the campaign run? Start and end date?

I need to know because my honeymoon goes from the 1 October to the 21 October. Don't schedule around me, I just want to be able to help as best I can an not let you guys get screwed by not knowing I wasn't here.

Ideas

Have one off theme weekends or days, or club fights that effect the results of the campaign and at least the fluff in a different way.

For example, every battle reported on the 7th of October in Arnheim contributes to the "naval blockade" results of that city. If the DE win the HE will have a negative impact on their results for the next week as they don't get supplies or reinforcements. If they win nothing changes.

Conversly we have a battle later at the Wrath gate, Close the Passage could inhibit DE reinfocements from attacking Arnhelm. A win for the DE keeps the status quo... for now. These wins or losses would also contribute to the results from the site and change the control in these areas.

Also if gaming groups get together and submit a one off day event we could consider them to be worth more or less victories, etc... and do a similar thing to what GW does with their in store events.

And one more thing, we should add the Bretts into the fight around Karond Kar as they are so far excluded from the combat. They can be trying to capture great beast to act as steeds or something. Perhaps liberating capture damsels etc...

It should start in September sometime. When it ends I figure is up to you guys, it could go on for almost a year if it is kept interesting.

So. You're getting married and you said nothing. Sneaky guy. Congrats. It should not be a problem I can fill in for you for a bit. Or perhaps Grogsnot.

Those are good ideas. The Bret one however I have a problem with because it would be very hard for anyone unless escorted, to invade Nag with a fleet. The Brets are so linked to the Lady that I couldn't see Slaaneshi Brets really being practical.

A few more things...

There has been much discussion about letting the members decide how the fluff will evolve. As such this requires members imput in the form of battle reports and stories. Right now I have not seen any mechanism in the report battle sections that can allow for this to happen.

If we could drop in a section that allowed for Battle reports or some similar fluff creation by the players we will better be able to use characters and creative army lists to flesh out the campaign. This could be similar to the quick reply function I am using right now or a forum dedicated to the Flesh and Blood battle reports.

Good stuff about Grogs and yourself filling in, thanks on the congrats, oh and I never mentioned it because it never came up... when I'm going to have my first child though I'll let you know right away langmann ;)

The bretts could perhaps help the HE in Arnheim but I suppose if they want to participate they could be registered as Empire troops and say they are from the Border Princes.

Another thing what about.....Eltharion. That bastard is running around Naggaroth right now, and he will surely try to take advantage of the kerfufel. Unlike Morathi and Malekith that is one guy who will get stuck in, we need to account for him somehow. Perhaps HE wins in Naggaroth can count for either faction like the orcs in the SoC, as Eltharion attacks any who happen to wander into his path...??

Sorry for late replies, I have been moving.

Yeah that is a damn good idea. I was thinking of this earlier as well. How about a 'COMMENTS' form at the end of the battlereport form. In this area they could add any comments such as "Fighting for the Avengers of Khaine Team" or "With the Slaaneshi-Khaine alliance".

What do you guys think? This could mean a bit of work reading through them all, however Grogs seemed pretty eager to help out.

Good stuff, glad its working out for you. One thing about marriages, I always tell people, do what I didn't. Spend all that money on eloping instead.

I am hesitant to meddle with Eltharion as it is GW's fluffpiece right now. I have no idea where they are going with that guy (or if they even know). Perhaps it could be added in later when the campaign starts warming up.

I have added the Comments section to the end of the battlereports. Hopefully it will work out alright.

Thanks for the replies.

As for the eloping bit, there was a point where we just about went, screw it, and took off. But we at that point had invested far to much money and time into the wedding bit. however we are still going to Tialand for the honeymoon.

Commenst section is an excellent addition. We can look at post and comments when things change dramatically and develop some of the fluff from there. Hopefully it will be helpful and get us going in the right direction.

The Eltharion thing I have had some time to think about and have decided when GW does something major with him then we can add him in. Perhaps he attacks Naggarond or something in the WD magazine. We can then add Naggarond in as a battle site against the HE. Flexability is the key and we will see how things go I suppose.

We will still have to add the human element to the fluff ... I am not quite sure we want a comments section. Let the numbers speak for themselves and we will interpret them ...

True. We don't necessarily have to listen to any comments people are making. But if a group of responsible gamers get together and do something reasonable and easy to for us to deal with then I think it would be appropriate. However as you said, the numbers should speak for themselves.

I figure the only time we listen to comments is perhaps a certain group makes a huge team and people start doing what they say, for example, a large group of orc players starts attacking only Khainite Dark Elves and identifies themselves as "the Warband of Grimlak" and starts causing a large number of orc victories we can orientate the fluff around it.
