Bring down the 6th Gate!

Post by General kala »

See those pretty white towers and the big sparkly doors that the Asur are building on our soil? Destroy them!

I urge everyone who is going to fight the Asur at Arnheim this weekend to try to play a Construction Site scenario from p.124 of the General's Compendium. Report the pathetic number of construction points left after the unstoppable onslaught of the Druchii. Since it is a multiplayer scenario, the "attacking alliance" rules will allow for both Cult of Slaanesh AND Temple of Khaine Dark Elves to be fielded in the same battle. How cool is that?

Burn it! Break it! Smash it to the ground! These are the final days of the war. This is the final push. Send the Asur home crying!
Because anyone vicious enough to shoot down her own battlecruiser because there might be a traitor at the helm deserves to have a Druchii namesake.

Be warned! The Asur shall stand in your path, and shall defeat you. The Shadow Host of Tor Arhain shall strike you down from the shadows before you even reach our gates, and even if you do, you will be hard pressed to overcome the forces we have defending the wall. Even if we fail, your armies shall be slain to an elf, by Loec. I came to this cursed land to hunt down those who slew my mentor. Now, I shall hunt down those who seek to destroy my people. Be warned, Druchii. We are waiting.

To the walls, fellow Asur! Strike them down!

well said, brother Vil-Hatarn. wherever you go, Kala, my men will oppose you; by Saphery i promise this. and should you stop our noble work at the Gate, i pity you; for i too will unleash upon you the vengeance of Khaine that you Druchii so adore.

repent, Kala, for your time of reckoning is come. whether it be in this life or the next, my blade shall teach you the folly of your ways.

stand by me, Asur, and let us finish what we began in this accursed land!

4 February
ex-Asur Kontan Camp

I stand in the midst of the ruins of what was once the Asur Kontan Camp. I have destroyed the Asur and Bretonnian defenders. The way is now clear for the Druchii Army of Maibd Pass to march on the 6th Gate of Arnhelm. Victory or death! The 6th Gate must fall! Death to the Asur and their allies!
Glory to the Witch King!

Whooohooo! Must tell you all about it!

I played two 3000 point games with this scenario over this weekend. In both I was playing 2000 point Dark Elf force in alliance with a 1000 point Cult of Slaanesh force. My opponents were playing 2000 points Asur defense force with 1000 points of construction crew. Kala was the Field Marshall for both games (I let my opponents choose their Field Marshall as well)

First Game - Played against a relatively new opponent that I don't usually play with. He was pretty focused on wiping out my army and not on building the Gate. He decimated my army down to a Hydra, one unit of Daemonettes and Kala. BUT Kala and the Hydra both pushed through to the Gate and Kala had on the Gauntlet of Power. If any of you Druchii are planning a last minute Construction Site game, I highly reccommend this item. While he was wiping out my Sorceresses with bolt throwers, I was pounding on the Gate. Reduced the 6th Gate to two thirds of a damage point.

Second Game - Against my two regular opponents. I have played this scenario with both of them a few times independently, but never together. They were both used to my tactic of sending kamikaze Cold One Chariots into the Gate. I capitalized on this to distract them from my real objective. While they were chasing the Chariots and the Hydra (the "only" thing in my army with the strength 5 required to damage the Gate), I snuck Kala up to the Gate with a minimal escort of Daemonettes and Dark Riders. They didn't expect that a lone, Strength 4 Highborn could do anything to a Toughness 8 structure. A thousand and one dark blessings on the Gauntlet of Power. By the time that they realized what I was doing there was no way that they could reach me in time. The result was so nice that it deserves its own line in bold type.

  Kala brought down the 6th Gate with her own fist.

Yes! Zero damage points at the bottom of turn five. The Gate crumbles!

Of course these were just my games. If the Asur play this scenario, then they may yet outshine me. But since these were likely my last games for Flesh and Blood, I couldn't have asked for a more spectacular end.

Bretonnia!

Post by Lathaine »

The Bretonnians shall stand in your path Kala. Lathaine De Bastonne is displeased wih the recent string of Druchii victories and has marched to meet his foe and begun a slaughter.

I played a 4300 pt game and three 2000 pts games in a kind of ladder.

In the first 2000 pt battle a legion of daemons led by Regulus the damned tore thorugh a massive line of High Elf cavalry, slaughtering all in their path. Represents a pitched battle with HE cav vs. Daemon legion he had two Dragons! But he seriuosly underestimated my daemons and I managed to defeat his dragons in close combat even when they reared my units. A character playing Regulus killed a Dragon with a lord on his lonesome.

Things were looking bad for the Asur. But in the next two 2000 pt battles the forces of Lathine de Bastonne rallied and counter-attacked the now prideful, arrogant Regulus. Asur he had corrupted for his own pleasure and ends were cut down and his armies dispersed and dealt a massive blow. Represented two battles with an HE army vs. Brets, now before you call me down for counting this against the DE, I'm the only DE player in my group and I wanted to play wth my Brets so we decided that Regulus turned legions of HE to his whim using his divine aura to bend the will of all around him. Not only that, my opponent was good, he brought an all cav-magic army and his second force was a shooty/2 terror causing monsters army. Both are partciulrly bad for Brets, this was no free lunch. It was luck and bad rolling on his part that saved me.

In the final battle a 4300 pt mega-game Regulus rallied his forces and joined Kala's forces. Yes, this should give you some pride in your accomplishments that we actually represented your story in our groups games. Kala your that infamous. Anywho, Lathaine was pushed back to the gate itself where he was joined by a force of sea guard led by Aislinn. However, against all odds they held their ground and annihilated the WHOLE Druchii force. Only one model made it to my deployment zone, Regulus, a mistake he wished he never made for a group of skirmishing Bretonnian bowmen holding the flank killed Regulus with a volley of Lady-blessed arrows. Seroiusly nine 6's were rolled to wound, I couldn't believe it, on top of that seven of the saves failed. This represented a final stand with Brets/HE vs. DE/Slaanesh daemons led by a Regulus character. It was close but the Brets gave the much needed hitting power that was neccesray to break the hard-hitting units. Oddly I didn't even play my own army, I was DE and a friend played Brets/HE, but that didn't stop me from causing massive harm to the Brets before losing, I know the weakness of my own army, which helped me. I would have won had Regulus not have been killed by the bowmen. D'oh!

You have no idea how proud I am of that, actually. It is just so much fun to play the role of the arch-villain.
