i would suggest that us mods can mod, ie boot and or lock people out of chat. as it is now we can just politly tell people to stop if they go to far adn we have seen today a bad example of what happens

I'm in there quite a lot, and I would gladly help - if I could. But as LLD said: There isn't anything we can do but to tell 'em to stop.

yesterday there was this guy named MAULUS and another one with equally 'caps locked' name in there, one was just spamming all over the place, the other was refusing to turn his caps lock off... very disappointing...

Yes unfortunately we had another troll in today: THE ELF RIPPING MAN STRIP(caps). It really is a problem and I vote that moderators should be able to moderate the chat function. Now that it is being more widely used.

Well assuming that only members of this site can access the chat box, if there is a problem, maybe the mods could give them a warning pm just like in the other forums - not sure if that would work, but if it did, then persistent offenders could get banned I guess.

This sort of thing spoils it for everyone. I wasn't witness to what happenned - whenever I've been in the chat there haven't been any problems to see, so maybe this sort of thing is quite rare, or maybe I've just been lucky so far

Or what about some way to ignore posts of certain users ? Is it possible to code in some sort of ignore-list, like other chat programs have ? I'm not a programmer so I don't know if this is possible but it's just a thought

Darkprincess, that was what we did. But it don't stop them at the moment.
Iaurn, those three members did get warnings and one of them got banned. At the moment I'm trying to cope with THE ELF etc etc.

It started yesterday (AFAIK) and so far all of the members has been banned. Hopefully this will intimidate or prohibit it from occuring again.

I try my best :D *flattered*
Kithan, it probably depends on the fact that we live in the same time-zone - and we are both online during the evenings...
There's a lot of times I'm not there (like 75% of the day)
But thanx anyway

Talking about everyday life is perfectly acceptable in the chat. The difference between the chat and the Spam-forum  oops, sorry, meant Humor-Forum... well, the difference is that in the chat you have no intentions behind the posts. In the humor forum most of the posters just wanted to get higher post-counts. And whenever I'm in the chat (except these couple of incidents) the spirit is quite high and no one is spaming. Once in a while someone might say the same thing a couple of times, but all that is needed is to gently remind him/her that the forum rules also applies in the chat and spam is not an effective method of getting a message through.

just log on and people will eventually join you. They only need one to take the first initiative. I used to take the initiative, but not anymore (for some reasons)

I haven't seen a problem, but I think the surrent system is ok - although the ability to throw people out of the chat could be very useful.

They would come back Ras. You need a ban option too. And a customizeable time for the ban to last.
