Project of translation in French of druchii.net monthly

Post by Kormin sombracier »

Greeting, I name Kormin, and I allows me to propose you a project which I have had with friends.

I am French, and I have to use an automatic translator for you speak in English (my level of English is average)

With friends, we have to decide to translate article of the e-zine druchii.net monthly

Indeed on, we do not try to appropriate your texts, and we shall always quote you as initial authors.

But I prefere you ask whether that did not pose a problem to you.

What think of this project ?

If the topic is not in the good place, and that grammar is bad, excuse me.

- A.

(Translated into English, roughly, for whoever wants to follow this:
As a part of the monthly team I can tell you that we've considered this kind of stuff a few times and always ended up dismissing it out of lack of time (we're already having trouble not publishing three months late in a single language, so imagine doing it in more than one).

Your thread is indeed in the right forum, though the proper autorities might tell you to see with the Ini heads rather than site admins. As one of the only French people in these quarters, I can act as an interface between you and your team and the rest of the boards. Meanwhile, good luck on your endeavour - I doubt that if you show the team that you will be capable of transalting the articles faithfully your offer will be refused.)

I am happy to see French here.
We hope to be able to translate it as well as possible

You're not the only Frenchmen here you know. I also think that it's an interesting initiative; you wouldn't think it when you look at the forums, but many Frenchmen are interested in the Druchii.net monthly, and even if we understand everything ( I do hope it), it would be pretty nice if we could read a few articles in our native language, and those (among the French speakers) who don't speak or hate English would take advantage of this oprtunity, and it would advertise Druchii.net. A partnership with Warhammer Forum (the French forum) could be thought of, couldn't it?
(I'm a member of Warhammer Forum, under the username of totor, don't ask me why it isn't the same as the one I use here, it's to complicated).

Hablo español y he estudiado y tomado clases por ocho años.

I like this idea a lot. If anyone out there wants to work on a Spanish translation as well, I’ll help. Especially if a native speaker can teach me some Spanish warhammer slang.... nudge nudge

(I don't speak French but it is a beautiful language. I speak Spanish and have studied and taken classes for eight years.)

Bref, si "mon" Furion te plaît, tant mieux. ;)

I'm sorry to have to remind you all that english is the language of druchii net mostly because our moderators cannot be expected to speak every language out there.

That being said I see no reason why any of the dnet stuff shouldn't be translated into another language, in fact I am all for it. If anyone wants to do it then all the power to them. Druchii net is all about volunteering and people getting involved in a great idea.

It would probably be polite to ask the people who do the monthly. The go to person now is General Kala, so write him a pm asking if you can do the translation and I'm sure he will accomodate you as best he can.

Thanks, langmann. Since the general tendancy in the corresponding mods' forum thread is to let this slide, would you mind if we kept this going? This is a working thread used to coordinate translation efforts in general. It would somewhat hamper our efforts if we had to constantly translate everything, I'm afraid. I can provide a summary of the thread at any time, as well as a translation of any particular post if needed. I will indeed get in touch with Kala (when did he get appointed our poster boy? :P) as well as each one of the Ini leaders when this gets organised.

For Englishspeakers: we're trying to organize ourselves.

Cheers. Not going to be a lot of action around here, since it's the holidays, but there.
