I have a suspicion that there is information out regarding the problem I'm having, but I can't seem to locate it. For this reason, I will present my complication here.

And that would be, I cannot seem to connect to the chat. It loads, but brings up Unable to connect to irc.gamesurge.net : currently trying to connect to irc.gamesurge.net. Chances are good that, because the fact of me not being all that tech savvy, that I am overlooking something, because I am not sure what is going wrong.

I used to chat quite often before they changed it. Since then, I've tried it on a few different computers with different operating systems and internet connections with no success. Does anyone know what is going wrong and could someone point me in the, I suspect, obvious direction?

Is this using the chat button at the top, or using something like mirc?

If you're using java, it can be quite flakey. PM me or post some more details of what you're using

If it's the pjirc java applet, then unfortunately, that happens from time to time. As I understand things, it arises from a fault in the connection between the applet and the Gamesurge server - really, there's nothing that you can do about it.

I'd suggest trying to use mirc (from mirc.com) or chatzilla (firefox extension) and seeing if those work. If you have a firewall, it might be worth checking the settings of that, just in case.

As I said - if you're using the applet, then it's a flaw with the code of the applet itself, and there's nothing that you can do about it.

The same as it is in the applet. You just have to enter:

/join #channelname

(Replacing "channelname" with the name of the channel.)
