What is the deal with the Avatars?

This might be the wrong forum to post on but how is it some people have really big and fancy avatars and some don't? its so hard to make a picture so small tha tit fits with the requirements. I've had a picture so small on its file that it doesn't even show up and it's still at like 11.8kb when i need it at 6! if you're a higher rank can you like have a bigger avatar or something? please help! THis is the only thing bothering me right now!

Do you have photoshop? That is possibly the easiest way to resize the images.

And no, you do not get bigger avatars if you are a higher rank.

If you merely resize it in paint, the size(i kb's) will not decrese. As Sean said, try photoshop.

It will if you save it as a smaller sized file. I use paint for all my avatars and it works fine.
