What do you think of this character build?

Post by Kinslayer »

I was just looking over the Lizardmen book and I came up with what seems like a pretty solid character

Sarus Oldblood,
Scimitar of the Sun Resplendant
Maiming Shield
Carnosaur Pendant
Light Armour

~ 255

(or whack him on a Carnosaur, totalling 465 points)

He's WS6, S5 and dishes out 8 Attacks (5 basic, +2 for the Scimitar, +1 for the shield)

As soon as he makes a kill, he becomes frenzied due to the pendant (9 attacks)

And on a carnosaur, he has another 4 (5 after a kill, due to frenzy) WS3 S7 attacks, which each turn into D3 wounds.

He has a 2+ armour save on foot (4+ scaly skin, shield and light armour)

And, as a Carnosaur also has 4+ scaly skin save, I think it's a 1+ mounted?

Pretty good if you ask me 8)

You don't get the bonus armour save for being mounted on a monster.

Pretty brutal, yes. Just watch out for high armour saves (for the oldblood) and challenges.

Ah right, thanks ;)

Yeah I was thinking he'd be better suited to charging block infantry than going character hunting. I wouldn't expect myself to be charging him into anything alone anyway if I used it, unless the situation was unavoidable or the enemy was something like a small band of shades. I think if he ran into block infantry, even the toughest guys like chaos warriors, alongside a block of Saurus he'd be pretty damn hard to stand up against.

Actually, shades was a bad example, there'd no doubt be an assassin... but you know what I mean ;)

You don't need the pendant either because you get frenzy when the carnosaur becomes frenzied.

mmmm tasty uber doom lol and considerin the points value, u could really use it to rip up afew units if u knocked it out first go ;D
Ayxxia the Shade is hiding in the shadows and waiting to attack...

Best way to get rid of a treeman is wait until the owner has it on the table in front of him and then kick him very hard in the groin from behind. When he doubles up and smacks his face intoit, he should wreck the treeman and it will teach the little bastard not to run a treeman at 750

Its the Druchii way of gaming!

Alright then, Pendant when on foot, not when mounted.

Another good one is this,

Saurus Scar Veteran
Paranha Blade
Bane Head
Light Armour
Shield

He is a character slayer. His Paranha blade means each wound is converted into two wounds. His bane head means one enemy character he doubles all wounds against him.

So, if you challenege him against the chosen character, every wound inflicted = 4 wounds!!

Hydra - 175 pts, 7 S5 attacks with hatred, T5, regen and a 4+ Asv.

And even a S huge breath weapon to boot!!!

But yes, it is a neat build, which you could make with the previous incarnation of Lizardmen as well (I believe). Most people prefer the slann though, as a carnosaur/foot lord is not fast enough

I'll definately go the slann build but for 3k or just for a change I look forward to trying this amusing build I thought of:

Oldblood
Hide of the Cold Ones
Charm of the Jaguar Warrior
Sword of the Hornet
(Shield) (if caught in the open against shooting, or if bears anger wears off)

In 3k with a Slann running lore of beasts the Bear's Anger then provides you with a stupid yet T7 W3 AS2+ fear causing animal with 8 WS6 S7 attacks that are ASF (hornet provides ASF "to the bearer"). He'd be a mini ASF dragon, although 3A, 2S, and 1T as well as his 20" charge would be dispellable. He'd be seriously unexpected - great for flying into a unit of hard knights or something with little CR but high value.

Can't use magic weapons while under the effect of Bear's Anger, "Bearer" does not mean you can simply carry it and not use it, if you can't use it, you don't get its benefit(s).

Its the same as Bretonnian using their mundane lance on the charge but claiming a bonus from their magic weapon - thats a big no no.

Bear's Anger removes your weapon/shield from your hands, you lose whatever they give you.

Ah well, still doesn't change the build. Since he'd be flying in anyway he'd be striking first 90% of the time, not that it matters at T6or7. Shame, bearer is a vague word to use, as opposed to wielder. It still is vague. The rule for Hornet sword is: "The bearer of this sword has the Always Strikes First rule.". I had already understood the Bear's Anger rule, as noted with the shield.
