The Dwarf Rumor Mill sucks

Post by Gidean »

So I popped into Bugman's to get some juicy rumors. Those stunties really need to take lessons from us. Here their book is suppose to come out next month and they don't seem to know anything of merit. Heck..we already had leaked pictures by then. Same as our evil cousins, the Asur. Are Dwarves just thick headed? ;)

Rumors been... weird lately. Nids had the same "problems" with very minimal leaks.

last rumors talk about march tho... no matter what, i'm not looking forward to see dwarf gunline make a comeback...

GW is really improving... at tightening the screws down on the rumor mill...
Which is like the last thing you want to do when you want to build hype...
They should hire Paul Barnett to do some promo videos for them, that man knows how to build hype!

See..I was hoping they would make the new book so the Dwarf Players had the option of NOT doing gunlines. For instance if they had some real kick-arse monstrous infantry. But the only rumor of anything close to that seems to be bomber and fighter squadrons of gyrocopters. In other words...just more shooting.

Dwarves just cling on to their old ways. At first they might pretend the book doesn't exist. Then they'll approach the book cautiously, debate it for days, perhaps years before they actually accept it in their midst. But once they do, they'll die fighting for it, whether it's good or bad.

Hmmm, I am pretty impressed with the hammerers. I think I read they are a joint box with Iron breakers. Certainly looks to be the case.

Looking like it may be a fairly decent looking army.
Waiting to see what they do to Rune magic and whether it will be along the lines of Storm of Magic.

As dwarfs are among my main opponents, i'm looking forward to the book. I hope they do a real good job with the runemagic.

Interestingly, according to the leaked pre-order lists for the first two weeks of Feb, there's Dwarf models, but no Army Book.
"The dark elves have everything cool. They are pirate blood cultist ninjas riding dinosaurs and flinging magic. They're metal. They're the most metal race out there, rivaled only by Warriors of Chaos. They bring a cauldron of boiling blood onto the battlefield. You don't get much more metal than that." -- Mostlyharmless on Warseer

I am totally shocked by the lack of fanfare for this impending release. Are they even excited over at Bugman's? There was so much hype for our book and the high elf book. All that is totally lacking on the forums I read for this new Dwarf Book. It is like nobody cares...

Well I do as my son owns a fully painted force easily able to make 3000 points and is a regular opponent of mine. I hope they make Dwarves like our book and viable besides just doing the boring gunline.

I have to agree. I would like to face non gunline dwarfs for once. I hope they have made other builds more viable.

The problem with rumours is that they don't generate hype then generate sensationalist apocalypse doomsaying from the internet blog and forum media.

Having thousands of people online saying that things in the new book are rubbish and that the new army will need these things to be competitive / interesting is really bad for a new book coming out. Unfortunately that's what rumours generate as each site competes to scream the shrillist to attract readers.

I'd like Dwarfs to be able to compete in all phases of the game not just the shooting and combat phases. I'm not sure how they can do this though.

To speed up the play of Dwarves, things like Gyrocopter units would be fun.

And maybe something like mechanised infantry -- along the lines of the forgeworld Chaos Dwarf trains but as troop transports rather than just cannons (yawn).

Dwarves express themselves perhaps... in a more reserved manner... at Bugman's. We have one (active) dwarf player in our group of 6 players and he's incredibly excited about this release. It will be well recieved! But I think that it might turn out a bit slow until the new armybook is released.

Right now, it looks like a revamp of models that most Dwarves may already have. And without new rules, I'm not sure new players will be eager to jump over to Dwarves.
