Re: New Wood Elf Pics
I think we might unify with out lost cousins from ulthuan over this, and by unify I mean they will finally accept the rule of one true king of the elves.

Re: New Wood Elf Pics
Maybe I'm the odd one here, but I really like the new treemen. Nice new concept of treemen.
They might knew more lore, but my guess we are still better at casting Dark Magic with Hekarthi's Blessings
Wood Elves as better at magic than Asur and Druchii

Re: New Wood Elf Pics
it'sta shame. Wood elves have no reason to know dark magic, developed by Morathi herself and only ever practiced in Naggaroth.
I am really kind of saddened about this. Almost as sad about the little "souls to slannesh" snippet in our new book. I can't help but feel that Ward, the destroyer of lore, had some hand in this.

I agree but timeline wise didn't they splinter off AFTER the great civil war?

And he did. I read where he wrote all three books at once to supposedly provide continuity.
Re: New Wood Elf Pics
What Ward wrote usually sells, so I guess that is not a bad thing for WE players.
I really like what he did to both the HE and DE books (except for our Magic Items) and is looking forward to see what magic he do to the WE. Just skip the fluff section, and things would be okay

Re: New Wood Elf Pics
Yes both High Elves and Dark Elves got some good items. I would argue that High Elves came out ahead there. But we got better army powers. However, it just seems so very wrong that WE Magelords know more magic than the Slann.
Re: New Wood Elf Pics
What other lores do they get, as both High and Dark Magic don't seem like something the woodies would use.
High Magic is all magic at once in its most refined form. Dark Magic is all magic in its rawest form. The 8 lores of magic, all under one roof.
I doubt Wood elves would use the lore of Fire or the Lore of Metal as fire adn metal is more industry and more destructive then a forest wants to handle.
Shadows I can see, and deffinitly Death as Shadows would alow for some trickery to mess with the enemy and as all things must live therefor all things must die.
Heavens a maybe, and light a bigger maybe.
But I can't see High, Fire, Dark, or Metal lores in their arsonel fluff wise.

Yes, and from what I've read Dark Magic was already practiced (and thus cultivated) during the civil war. It was practiced in Naggarythe, and could have been spread out to the outer colonies where Morathi may have spread the cults.
It also makes sense that they have a very different set of ethical rules, and so don't look at Dark Magic as evil the way High Elves do. But then I thought their own ethics and views wouldn't exactly prove so flexible that they have access to more lores than DE or HE
Oh well. A lot can still depend on small details. And then the whole book and internal balance needs to be taken into account.

I find it funny that the poster who took the time to photo copy that page could only get a blurry picture of one of THE most anticipated questions of the new book. Are Wood Elves getting Monstrous Cav?

Look non MC from what I can make out. On normal cav bases.
Guess that still leaves the Great stag for characters.

Really? They look huge to me. I just can't make out the base at all. Mr. Treeman is certainly going to have a large footprint. Looks like a Giant base sideways.

Just looks to me if there is a base edge just behind and to the left of the ribbons.
Could be very wrong though.

I think a punitive mission into Athel Loren is in order.

Re: New Wood Elf Pics
What I have just noticed, is that the treemen are now on chariot bases. My old one will look tiny.

Chariot or Giant's base sideways?
If I collected Wood Elves I would just buy these and do a little converting.

Re: New Wood Elf Pics
If Wood Elves, of all people, get decent Monstrous Cavalry whilst Lizardmen get passed over (no, Ripperdactyls don't count), then I will be mighty peeved indeed.
Still, those Eternal Guard/Waywatchers will make for very nice Shade converions, and will hopefully be excellent for my Witch Elves/Feral Elves.

Re: New Wood Elf Pics
That pic with the 2 treemen is awesome. Hope for the sake of Wood Elf players that the points/rules make them worth fielding.
