A new model that will likely cost $80-$90 US. You have ANY doubt that GW/Ward won't give it Must Take rules? Like he did with the Skullcannons? I suspect pairs will be seen as often as we see pair Ironblasters in OK armies.

Neither cauldron nor witches are must haves.

Warlocks are... And they're the "cheap" kit.

Nope the treeman kit is $61. I have the white dwarf in my hands.

Apparently they've got a unique lore attribute for both High and Dark

That doesn't surprise me. Lizards got a different High attribute to HE's.

Ahhh... the old "GW make the new/expensive stuff better so people will buy it!" fallacy. Its probably my favourite Warhammer related one.

Skullcrushers and Ironblasters, you say? Okay, I'll give you:

Karibdyss/Hydra
Dreadlord on Black Dragon
Scourgerunner Chariot
Bleakswords/Dreadspears/Darkshards
Carnosaur/Trogolodon
Bastiladon
Lothern Skycutter
Slaughterbrute/Mutalith
Dragon Ogres
Warshrine
Manticore
Forsaken
Slaanesh Chariot
Burning Chariot
Thundertusk/Stonehorn
Arachnarok
Imperial Griffon
Ushabti
Mortis Engine/Coven Throne

All of these are distinctly average at best. Many of them are generally poor. A few are so outright terrible that they are the stuff of legend. This list also doesn't even start to consider old stuff which gets better or worse - if everybody owns unit x, and unit x suddenly gets much better, how does that fit in to the narrative?

When people talk about the 'new filth,' they always seem to develop Convenient Amnesia which ignores anything which doesn't support their argument. Skillcannons, Funblasters, and Demigryphs are in the minority. All this really tells us is that GW aren't all that great at balancing new units: some are great, some are terrible, most are probably somewhere in between. But we already knew that.

Edit: Witches also work fine in unit sizes less than 20. They also don't have to come with a Cauldron to work. I actually think that the Bloodwrack Shrine is the better of the two kit options.

I like the treeman pics in T.D.'s post. So the ones before it were just a crappy paint job. Nice.

Enough of this talk. I Want I Want I Want.

Treemen look awesome, but very hard to paint up well. Knights on stags, awesome. Dark and High Magic, Awesome.

Up to 7 S6 Attacks at WS6 is merely 160 pts? Wow..
Better T and W, dual saves. I doubt it, but you have the book. So...

I'm going to guess it won't come with a double save unless it's an upgrade... or mighty expensive :)
And with Stubborn instead of unbreakable maybe?

Possible upgrades:
- Armour
- MR
- An extra attack / special attack power

These guys would make good proxy Executioners!

Not sure where they are going in regards to Wood Elves with Axes, unless it's a case of:

MIght just be the angle, but the posing of the arms look a little awkward. But some nice axes to butcher.
I have a feeling I will be using a fair few parts from the new box sets to create some nice hybrid models, I am really hoping the wild / stag rider box will give me some nice torsos and helmets to make some nice warlock conversions. Especially if the helmets are similiar to the already shared artworks.

What strikes me most about this model (no I am not fond of it) is that you are going to bust stuff off of it so easily. Shirt cuffs, transporting (have NO idea how you could pack safely enough for a plane) and just the occasional knocking over. This model cries "Break me!". Good luck to anyone who makes one.

So just visited the GW website. Looks like there is in fact no Wood Elf Lore. They get a spell card set that has all the dark and high magic card in the blister. So that rumor is certainly confirmed. Also what happen to GW giving up on Finecaste when about 30% of the Wood Elf range is still in Finecaste?

Wood elves was the first armybook i bought back in 5th.
Still got a couple of old waywatchers (awesome traprules they had), wardancers, scouts and treemen, led by orion.
I switched to druchii as soon as the 6th ed hit the shelves.
These pics make me wanna start a new army...(for my gf to paint ofcourse, not for myself).well played gw!
