Why do RPG moderators take so long to accept characters?
Hello. This is Archon_Matt. I'm a little annoyed. I don't want to sound like a whinger, but I posted a character about 6 months ago and got a bit of feedback to improve it. So, I fixed it up. Now, 4 months after that, no more replies. So, here's the question: Why so long to accept the characters, or even SAY something, like "You're an idiot you're never going to be accepted." or, "You've made an okay character. Make another, better one, and I will accept you."

I'm assuming that it was merely an oversight. Please do not think that they simply hate you. A more productive way to handle this problem wouldve been to send a PM but I suppose this works.

I got into my group quite fast, after two group invites
What the mods like to see is lots of background on how your character acts towards other people, in dangerous situations, what their personality is like etc
the average druchii isnt going to be invited, cos they would be boring
take my character for example:
a rather tall (for a druchii) warrior with a large tattoo on his face that is generally mean to everyone and has sadistic tendencies. And also has a habit of getting into sticky situations (damn dryads... grumble)
having just read through your shades profile, id say that most group leaders think you will roleplay to powerfully, since you said in his background he has killed three adult shades/warriors and then killed their noble/leader
i think you should have another look at Khel's advice, hey, maybe you dont get your revenge, and try to steer your group to getting there and slaying them.

It's not as much hosts not accepting you as there not being enough hosts to accept you. In fact, I recently went over the entire character list again and personally found yours decent enough to get in a game (of course, your chances can always be improved).
Take a look at the list of hosts. Brinnyunlimited and Morvai are actually no longer hosts and probably will be taken off the list when I do my next cleaning round. That leaves us three hosts, or three groups. That's not much. We have too few hosts for our (potential) player base.
We're working on attracting people to become roleplaying hosts. However, as Rork brought up in an earlier announcement, the posting quality in general is a bit on life support, and this is an important requirement for modship in the RPG, so our list of candidates is far from awe-inspiring.
The premise of this RPG assumed that there would be a decent host-to-player ratio. Lately, we've been getting ever less people interested in hosting. I can't force people to become RPG hosts; I can offer the position to them after some screening, but that's it. If people don't volunteer, that's all she wrote.
Believe me, this is my concern as much as yours.
In the meantime, if you're looking for games, there's usually a SAU running in the History forum. It's not the same, but it's a game, and it's an opportunity to show off your skills.

Please mind your grammar, aye? It takes only a moment and looks so much better on your resumé. -- Tarbo

Please accept one's most humble apologies, Tarbo. Another thing about my character ,if you look at his background, is that he is a little wimpy. Even though he is big.

Nailed right there, for those aspiring to create a character, always try and add your own brand of eccentricity to them that seperates them from the norm, doesn't have to necessarily be over the top or anything, just enough that you're not labeled as another stereotype. My own character capitalizes on this sort of thing by maintaining a genuinely polite and insouciant exterior, as well as believing in concepts such as loyalty or honour, yet at the same time still upholding druchiiesque tendancies.

Never hurts to have a straight man if you ask me. Someone 'normal' enough to give proper reactions to the quirky characters around him/her.
