Sry, only got time for a quick out line what Sangui will do ( bus in 1 min):
He will shoot at the three bowmen, trying to hit them before they get into cover, or at least frighten them so they don't shoot. After that he will follow the chaos Amazon.

Upon slaying the guard, Kayla had told herself that was going to count to five, and that was exactly what she would have done, except she immediately heard two other guards clambering about in the room beyond. She wasn't sure whether to wait for them here, though, she suspected after seeing their dead comrade, that they would not venture beyond the occupied room. Neither would they call the alarm, as her rather brash entrance to the compound had alerted other sentries which had taken care of that.

The blue-haired warrior stepped round the corner to face them alone, they were wielding pikes, both of which were directed at her, Kayla instantly settled into a defensive posture and resisted an almost overpowering urge to laugh in their faces. Shield held at eye-level, just enough to see over it, and her sword arm held back ready to strike. Both men struck with their pikes - not a good weapon for close-quarter fighting. Kayla deflected the left one with her shield as she parried the right one with her sword, she jumped forward then, positioning herself within the reach of the weapons while she lashed out with her sword, splitting the right pike in two. As she sliced the right one in half she grabbed the left one - which she had deflected to the floor - and did the same to that one, so that both soldiers wielded broken pike shafts.

Kayla will give the soldiers a chance to get other weapons, should they wish. She will wait for them, since she reckons they are no match for her. Kayla kills for sport, not for fun, though few would recognise the difference.

OOC: Right, Smiler, I was going to go ahead and do the entire fight scene, but that may have been way too many 'actions' for you to handle. I do my actions as intended, they are not... um, 'done' as such, that's for your dice to decide, then for you to mod accordingly should any of them fail. I'll leave with you to decide what counts as an action in all of my posts - ah, the joys of mod-hood

Still waiting your response in the OOC thread btw!

ooc: are you being facetious mr minigrift? ;)

But anyways, since I've been away for far too long, so now would be a fine time to continue.

IC: The very moment the tower garrison came out of thier shed-like quarters Calis swivelled his aim from the balcony to the door and let fly a handful of bolts, though the sharp movement and moving targets threw his aim significantly and only one shaft was on target, piercing the bowman's shoulder as he ran to the desperate cover of the precious ale supplies. The bowmen cowered for a moment, hoping the druchii would empty thier quarrels into the barrels and give them a moments reprieve to fire back. Athyia had other ideas, invigorated by the unholy power of fresh kills the mage drew the winds of shyish about her and strode calmly down the hill wearing the face of death itself, covered by Sangui, who squeezed off a couple of bolts into the barrels and set off to where the close quarters killing was, confident that the shade and death mage could handle things on thier own. The pinned bowmen took thier first tentative glances out of cover as Athyia stepped into the courtyard, quite evidently shocked at the arrival of what appeared to be an avatar of death incarnate one man emptied his bowels and fled for the tower, quickly being cut down by Calis'Shad outside, the others didn't get the chance as Athyia raised her staff and tore the men's screaming souls from their bodies (two pretty large scale spells, with +1 for having power level 2 and +1 for having a fair amount of death energy to work with... rolled a 6, hence spectacular results)

Inside, Kayla was having great successes, with a quarter of the garrison she knew of dead before he could fight back and the others at hand obviously sluggish and unready for combat she waited for the patiently for the guards to gather thier weapons, there was no need to force further bias on the already uneven fight. The two men stopped a few steps shy of the door with thier pikes pointing through at the warrior, restricting here movement toward them. One of made a swift lunge that was easily parried and broken by Kayla (ws4, unwieldy weapons, defensive stance so about 3+ to block, rolled a 5). At this unfortunate turn of events the now disarmed human glanced at the other one before disappearing up a flight of stairs in the back of the room, the other stepping up to cover his retreat.

So Athyia has spent the energy she has so far gained on blowing up the bowmen (you can't take energy from thier corpses, that would lead to too much snowballing), Calis is outside the walls still, Sangui is at the tower door, and Kayla is outside the door to the stairwell which is still held by one guard. Carry on.

So what do people think of the dice rolls/results being posted during the modpost, are they fine? Should they be pulled to the end? Kept to myself? Your input is plenty welcome. Next modpost is in ~60 hours, unless everyone is done and I can post.

<OOC: The detail of extreme dice rolls is welcome.
In case of epic fails or outstanding results, the perpetrator will understand that the results are, indeed, out of the Gaussian bell.
It helps us to better understand what we can expect, and therefore grab a better control on our fates.
Without any knowledge about the dice rolls, we could consider that your modding was just storytelling with realistic conclusions and we could wrongly understand that, with you as a mod, that’s how things go.>
IC

Hide hunting was Calis’Shad’s favorite. This one started well, with one perfect shot at the balcony, and one or two partial kills on the moving targets, he wasn’t sure.
He readied his crossbow as he watched the corsair get closer to the barrels. The corsair delivered a few noisy bolts into the barrels, and not a toe remained to be seen from the panicking Humans.
The corsair entered the tower, indicating that Kayla was doing well inside.
That was a good time to reload the crossbow’s magazine to full capacity.

Calishad did not really hear what it was but could distinctly feel it coming from behind.
A quick instinctive glance stunned him. Did I see what I saw? An apprehensive look first confirmed the initial sight, until he realized that the deadly apparition was actually Athyia. She was awfully transformed. Surrounded by a swirl of threatening fog, her violet staff was irradiating like a doom lighthouse. It seemed that the herbs underneath were desperately trying to escape the dried path of death she was leaving behind her.
Despite the warm temperature accumulated under his cloak, Calis’Shad perceived a wave of cold and dark energy irradiating from the death mage, as she passed eerily next to him.

He resumed his station, fascinated by the unholy grace of the apparition floating in front of his eyes. Now Athyia was entering the courtyard and the three men perceived their doom coming. One of them panicked and ran, Calis’Shad stopped him with two bolts without even thinking of it. He tumbled and collapsed.

Then Athyia raised her glowing staff and...
...Calis’Shad was usually not that impressive but his jaw fell wide open. After witnessing the fireworks of Shyish, he did not move for a second or an eternity. No breath. No heartbeat. No thought.
The courtyard echoed the screeches of the fleeing souls and fell into a deep silence. Now Athyia was closing the tower.
<OOC: Hopefully, I grabbed the right tone about Kinslayer's mage ;) >
IC

The sense of his responsibility awoke Calis’Shad from his icy numbness. Where are the next threats?

Calis'Shad resumed his attentive watch, weary of any threat coming from the tower or the shack.
Three Humans came out from the shack. Was there a fourth one who had no bow?
Are there more bowmen at the top of the tower?

Calis’shad was remaining alone in the open, a nice target from the top of the tower. As his comrades seemed not to need his cover anymore, he stood up and entered the courtyard perimeter.

The first thing he investigated was the lean-to, which door was still open. Approaching cautiously so as not to make any noise, he prepared his eyes for the semi-darkness of the room before leaning at the entrance and looking inside. He was confident that if anyone was there, he would have no missile weapon like his now fallen buddies.
<assuming the lean-to was empty>
Empty. But not yet time to search it thoroughly.

Next he quickly made sure that the four bodies were truly dead.
The bowman that he shot last was not breathing anymore. He was already smelling awful.
His two fellows behind the ale barrels showed bulging sanguineous eyes and horrid expressions with their fully white hair and three-day beard. Obviously dead, although the reason for their death seemed unnatural.
The awkward disposition of the sentry who fell from the balcony showed that his neck was broken. The strangest was that his flesh seemed like aspirated from inside.

Calis’Shad looked briefly inside the tower. The situation was apparently under control and the group would better handle it without him in the congested space.
They will hunt the Humans up into the tower.
The Bretonnians can try to escape with a rope ladder from the balcony.

Calis’Shad selects a waiting spot close to the entrance of the tower, invisible from the top of the tower, allowing him to listen to the fighting inside.
He will make sure that no threat comes from the outside. He will shoot at anyone he sees going downwards below the balcony (with a rope, or a rope ladder).

We should find plenty of food inside. Will we get some intelligence if any prisoner survives?

OOC - Calisson, I think you got it spot on

IC -

Athyia strode into the courtyard under a veil of dark magic, blackening the very air as she stripped the still dying humans of their souls and turned their lifeforce into an expendable energy. Quite what she must have looked like in that moment, she could not say for sure. She was fear incarnate, but fear itself was something she had left behind more than a century ago. It had the desired effect however, and as she watched one of the three men gave up his position, as well as the contents of his bladder, and made to run away. Cali'Shad had put a bolt in his back before she could react, so she turned her attention back on the other two and thrust her staff fowards. The amethyst tip turned as dark as oblivion, and as if under her control both remaining humans released their bows and rose from their cover. They didn't stop moving once they were on their feet however, and their backs arched as their chests pushed up into the air. Their heads lolled back in agony, and their shimmering ethereal clones tore themselves free of their corporeal forms. The souls turned black and withered under the arcane grip of her mind, before dissapearing with the wind, leaving only the echo of a distant scream on the air as the bodies collapsed back to the ground.

Athyia let her fascade drop, and as she did so she stumbled into the courtyard and pressed her back to one of the outer walls. She didn't usually throw so much power around in a single spell, but she had been so enraged by her capture and so invigorated by energy that she had utterly destroyed those humans who had stood in her way. She mourned for them now, if only for a moment, for now their souls would forever wander in the netherspace between this life and the next, never to reach there and never to return. For a moment she felt like her energy was completely spent, but she knew it was just the after effect of containing so much power at once. There was a point in Athyias' history when holding such power in check would of been beyond her talents, and to attempt it would have torn her own soul asunder. Now, though... now Athyia was powerful, and well on her way to accomplishing her goals.

She tore her mind back to the task at hand, watching as Cal hurried into the courtyard and quickly checked the lifeless dead. She noted the somewhat fearful glance he threw her way and smiled, following him into the little lean-to as she decided Kayla and the Corsair could probably handle themselves inside the tower. She needed a few moments to recover and replenish her energies before she attempted any further spells, and she certainly wouldn't be able to produce anything so marvelous without first aquiring more power. Still, she had more than just her powers at her disposal, and she followed the Shade into the human shack with her short sword ready at her side. To show off such displays of power in the face of new accomplices was important, but to show any weakness in the aftermath could not be allowed. These other Druchii could as well be her enemies as her friends, and once they were back on the boat there was no saying what any of them was going to do.

Keeping up appearances, Athyia followed Cal into the shack, sword at the ready.

Will check the lean-to with Cal, and will help fight anyone found inside. If it is empty and Cal assumes his sniper position, Athyia will instead ente the tower. She will follow in the wake of whatever havoc Kayla is wreaking, looking out for valuable treasures and items (weapons, food, gold, etc)

OOC: Apologies for not posting sooner. I have literally spent the last two days solely playing Warhammer - two 1,000 battles and two 3,000 point battles. Not got much on this week so normal posting should resume :)

Kayla had attempted to break both soldiers pikes, rendering them useless. You seem to have missed the other one, so I will assume they were both successful in being broken... hehe!

IC:

Upon the shattering of their weapons, the soldiers opted to flee, that was Kayla's first impression. Only one actually fled while the other fell back to aid in his retreat. He pulled a sword from a scabbard around his waist, then a dagger from his boot. The warrior went into her defensive crouch again and began marching towards the guard. Shield held forward, sword hanging low ready to strike.

When she was just a few steps away Kayla charged in low for a shield bash. Her opponent swung an overhead blow with his sword, but Kayla simply lifted the shield to stop the attack. The dagger came in around the shield, and Kayla swatted it aside with her sword - she needn't had bothered as the dagger was inches away for her mailed leg. The moment of the deflection Kayla stepped in quickly to bash the soldier with her shield. He stumbled backwards into the door-frame, but managed to remain steady on his feet.

He had no moment to recover as Kayla followed through with her assault on the man. With her shield held horizontally she swung a punch aimed directly at the man's head, the soldier ducked this with not even an instant to spare. Kayla reined in her fully-extended shield arm, given extra length by the shield. In the same fluid movement she extended her sword for a full-length thrust, which gouged deep into the man's chest. With a twist of the arm, Kayla ravaged his torso with the keening edge of her blade, and with a satisfied grunt the warrior stepped back into her defensive posture - not that she needed to, but it had become instinct after years of training.

She scarcely took the time to admire the smears and sprays of blood on the wall and floor, before she set up the stairs after the soldier who had run away. She was not concerned that he may have sounded the alarm, as it was a bit late for that. Some hope, however, that he might have a few more friends for her to kill.

If Kayla succeeds in killing the first guard, she will pursue the other guard up the stairs.

Sangui had barely time to see weather his bolts had hit. He doubted it anyway, he didn't aim carefully, shot at small targets in cover in a higher position, less then ideal. To clonks told him that they had in deed hit the barrels. They'd still do their job and give the sorceress a bit of time.

His scepticism about the powers of the mage ended when he heard the ungodly screams of the bowmen. Though he could not see them the sounds they produced where horrible enough to picture it. Thinking about it he was glad he didn't watch her doings, even the sound alone gave him an eerie feeling. It might after all be a good thing to have her on his side. If she was, else he'd have to try to bring here there.

As expected the fighting in the tower had already started. Still he preferred the smell of blood and fear to those screams. It didn't really look like his help would be needed, but he wanted to end this quickly.

Sangui watched for an opening in the fight to fire his handbow, taking better aim this time. Though he didn't mind hitting his companion it might kill her and that would only slow them down again.

If the chances are 1to3 or better to hit the enemie he will fire otherwise he'll enter melee combat.

OOC: aaand I shall continue

IC: With the energy she had gathered from the wind of Shyish spent, the corona of death around Athyia faded away like mist, and with it fled a little of her strength. Not perturbed by the amount of power she had just wielded she forced a brave face and gathered herself so as not to show any weakness to the companions she had yet to trust. While the mage was re-readying herself Calis decided that there was very little he could do from his position above the fort and made his way down to the courtyard. As the shade entered the courtyard he recognised the lean-to barrack as a possible source of danger or resource, either way he thought it would be best to check it out. So, with Athyia not far behind he moved up to the glorified shed and pushed the door open slowly. Inside there was very little of obvious value other than a couple of chests which probably contained the guardsmen's affects. They were about to leave when a young boy crept out from the corner of the room. "Please sir and madam, don't hurt me."

Inside the scene was much more aggressive, with Kayla advancing on the pike-wielding guard while expertly blocking his increasingly wild strikes, until a glance back at the stairs gave her the opportunity to jump forward and knock his weapon aside. Left unarmed facing the black armoured warrior the guard glanced around before grabbing up a chair and swinging it at the surprised Kayla, the chair smashed but it also threw her off balance for long enough for the guard to pull out a dagger and make a hasty thrust, which skimmed past Kayla's leg. The guards reckless move sent him off balance and he fell ontop of the elf, crashing face-first into her shield and was smashed brutally back to his feet with the offending weapon. The guard staggered for a moment before a bolt split his face and he collapsed backward.

Athyia and Calis are babysitting... or committing infanticide *shrug*, Kayla on her knees in the stairwell, and Sangui is looking all action hero with his handbow pointed at where the dead guard was stood. Carry on.

next deadline is in 48 hours unless everyone is done by then.

Athyia took one last glance up at the overhanging balcony of the tower, ensuring no further guards were aiming a bow her way, and then followed Cal into the lean-to. As she moved after him, she remembered the guard the Shade had shot down as her spell put him to flight, and thought of the untapped energy that was no doubt dissipating from his cooling corpse even now. She wanted to get back to his body and see if there was anything left of his soul that she could salvage, so decided to waste no time at all in searching the small building. If there was an opponent inside, she would deal with them quickly, or aid Cali'Shad if he had already begun to do so himself. If not, she would hastily return to the body of the fifth guard, and draw from it what she could, before pressing on into the tower behind Kayla and the Corsair.

What she found in the shack however, startled her for a moment and gave her pause. A small human child appeared slowly from the shadow of the far corner, and murmured some incoherant words in its native tongue. She recognised the meaning simply by his tone of voice and solemn look... it was a plea for mercy. The Mage found her mind travelling back, casting her thoughts back over a century to a cold, dark night within the manor where she had grown up back in Ghrond. That night the moons had been absent from the sky, a dark omen even amongst the Druchii of the Sorceress' City. She remembered how her mother, or at least the woman who had raised her that first half century after finding her at her door, had been attacked by a hooded visitor. She remembered killing the intruder with her growing powers, only to find out later it was her real mother come looking for her. Enraged, her father had returned and slain her foster mother, and she had watched her family die. She killed her father herself and fled, the deaths of her entire family scarred into her mind forever more. A night she would never forget...

Athyia looked down on the human child, a dark and calculating stare. The child offered no threat, and she could easily leave him be and continue her hunt for power inside the tower. Perhaps the Shade would kill him anyway, maybe out of necessity, perhaps just for sport. But, she couldn't help but ask herself, why was the child here? Was he running errands for the guards, perhaps as a punishment? Most likely, one of the guards was his father, and was showing him the workings of the tower, training him up for when he was a man. Strange, these humans. They aged so quickly, indeed the boy she looked at now would probably be grey within a century, and they had no natural affinity for magic. She pitied the boy, in that moment, knowing his life would never aspire to much. And then she remembered the men whose souls she had torn out just outside. They had ran from this place, meaning one of them was no doubt this boys father. She had murdered him, and she remembered well that to see ones' family die would break a beings spirit completely, be they Druchii, human or otherwise.

Quite simply, the Mage couldn't do it to him. She pitied the poor boy, and she couldn't bring herself to allow him to learn of his fathers death...

Athyia will bring her staff down hard over the boys head to stun him, then run him through on her sword. She will let his soul ascend to the afterlife in peace, then go to the tower.

Calis’Shad quick glance into the shack did not reveal anything threatening. He was about to move out, when a dry, shy infant voice was heard.
What’s that? He could see an imploring boy, kneeling in front of him and Athyia.
He examined the boy and what it implied.
Not old enough to become a slave.
Better he never sees how his father died. No need for a child’s scream.
If we don’t kill him, he will either starve among corpses or run into Beastmen. Hey! He would try if his village was not too far.

Calis’Shad grabbed one of the chests, turned it over and emptied it on the ground with the intention of throwing the shivering child inside.

<OOC: next paragraph edited because Kinslayer was quicker than me! >
IC

By the time he reached his conclusion, Athyia already had killed the boy.
He knew how far the village is. I’d like to know, too.

Nothing else was left worrisome or urgent in the barracks.
Calis’Shad went out and, having checked that the four bodies were not breathing anymore, went to the tower.

<OOC: I’m assuming that, by the time he comes at the entrance of the tower, Kayla will have disappeared into the stairwell along with Sangui.
Let’s copy/paste what follows. Need I to delete it from the previous post?>

He was back. It was way to long since he had killed last. He only noticed his desperate longing to do so now after it was gone. The kill had gone to fast to really excite him or get his blood singing. Still it felt like sex to him, if his eyes only weren't insulted by the women in front of him.

Putting his handbow over his shoulder relaxing visibly he said:

Seems like next time I want to save you from your own stupidity I got to shoot you in your stumpy legs, huh?
Let's go I still want to kill some humans. If possible try not to kill all of them instantly I want to enjoy this.

Stretching like a cat and putting on an sinister smile full of dark joy and awaited pleasure.

(Assuming following you,) Sangui got going upstairs, reloading his bow. If possible without any risk for himself he'll try to only cripple any enemies coming or at least not kill instantly.

OOC: Why is Kayla on her knees? And in front of Sangui too, how embarrassing >.<

You didn't give me much to work with, Smiler, so apologies for such a short post!

IC:

The corsair had entered the building behind her, she could hear him shuffling about. Once the fight was over, he dared a feeble attempt at an insult. "Seems like next time I want to save you from your own stupidity I got to shoot you in your stumpy legs, huh? Let's go I still want to kill some humans. If possible try not to kill all of them instantly I want to enjoy this." Kayla rose slowly to her feet.

"Stow it, soldier. Now isn't the time. I can gut you later if you have something to say." The warrior would not give him the satisfaction of being insulted by the corsairs words. She was already stepping up the stairs before she had finished speaking. She knew any soldier in this place was no match for her alone, but she also knew that weak enemies could be dangerous in groups.

Kayla will enter the room at the top of the stairs and fight anyone within.

OOC: Kayla is on her knees because she was hit with a chair and a bretonian. And yeah, I left it so you and darkdoom could do any dialogue you wanted before you were moved on.

well that was fast... I guess I'll continue.

IC: With barely a moment spared for some mutual jibing Kayla and Sangui stormed up the stairs and were met with a short corridor containing very little besides a chest, the guard who had fled from combat struggling with it, a door with a barred window, and a stream of curses and threats in druhir spouting from behind the door. The guard glanced up from his strugglings at the sound of booted feet stomping up the stairs and blanched when he saw the druchii downstairs had doubled before scarpering up to the next floor.

Outside Athyia and Calis swiftly dealt with the young boy who had arrived out of the shadows and started moving toward thier main goal in the tower. Calis stood in the shadow of the tower near the door and waited in case any humans decided to abandon the fight. Meanwhile Athyia stepped inside and glanced across the devastation that was spread across the ground floor, her eyes lingering for a moment on the fresh corpse in the doorway, after carrying out whatever she needed to do downstairs Athyia headed up the stairs after the others.

Calis is waiting outside, Athyia is heading upstairs (gave you the chance to leech the dead guard if you like Kinslayer), Kayla and Sangui are on the second floor, and... for the first time ever... introducing... RP's newest face... Khitai(Assani) is in a cell - please could someone let him out :)

again, 48 hour deadline unless you all done by then.

<OOC: is the balcony located in the second level, where the group is arriving? or is it on the third level just above?>
IC

Calis'Shad arrived at the door while the two warriors were heading upstairs.
A quick glance confirmed him that nothing was going on anymore on this floor.
Athyia entered shortly after.

Calis'Shad was not feeling secure. The group had attacked the tower head on, without checking if any other danger could be around.
Charging without knowing how many guards were in the shack was a mistake, that he did not want to see happening again.

Not being able to help the fight upstairs, and in order for the group not to be surprised on their back, Calis'Shad took a rearguard position.
A shadow near the entrance of the tower, roughly below the balcony, made a perfect spot to have a clear view at the gate of the courtyard and to see if a rope would fall from the balcony. Alternatively, staying just inside the door would give a nice view outside and still allow to check the bottom of the balcony.

Calis'Shad checked and prepared his crossbow.

As long as nothing was going on outside, he could easily listen inside.
Hey what's that? It's not our anonymous corsair's voice but it's our tongue? And the swearings are not a corsair's.

Calis'Shad will observe outside for a minute.

By the way, did they check everywhere in the ground floor?

When confident that nothing goes on outside, he will make a quick search on the ground level of the tower, to make sure that no danger remains, that no door was left unchecked. He will interrupt that search every minute in order to look and listen outside.

Athyia watched the human child fall to the ground in front of her after the hit from her staff, before running her blade into his chest and turning away. She was halfway back to the door when the Shade spoke, telling her that he would rather have questioned the poor soul than kill him outright. The Mage chose to ignore him, not out of spite but more out of necessity. The corpse the Shade had shot down was cooling fast, and she wanted to get to it and draw upon the last of its potential. She found the dead guad near the door to the tower, and knelt down beside it for a moment, pressing an open palm to his chest. His life was gone, but she drew out a wisp of dark magic that still lingered, and twirled her fingers in a complex gesture which caused the energy to drift into her staff. As the invisible power touched the stone, it pulsed a dark purple for the briefest of moments. The Mage let out a breath she didn't know she had been holding, feeling a moment of relief as the power of death once more crept into her veins.

The Mage rose from her crouch, pulling her sword back out of the earth and then stepping through the doorway into the ground floor of the tower. Her first impression was that human buildings were too low, her head almost brushing against the ceiling. The dead guard Kayla had left in her wake had already been drained of its energy, and despite detecting the faint trail of Shyish energy Kayla and the Corsair had unknowingly left in their wake, she took a moment to look around. The power of death could sustain her in many ways, but now the mundane portion of her mind started craving sustenance. Looking for food and water, the Mage also kept an eye out for anything worthwhile to be found on the sides, in chests, or on the bodies of the dead guards. In particular, she looked out for a new weapon, for she had never become accustomed to her shortsword and preferred to rely on her staff. What she had in mind would not be found in this land, she knew that. The starmace of her father was a weapon crafted by Druchii hands, a short black pole slightly longer than the hilt of a sword, ending in a viciously spiked iron ball.

Still, perhaps the humans would have a less elegant substitute to hand, something she could use to get accustomed to the fighting style she desired before purchasing one back in Naggaroth.

Athyia will take a look around for the following things in this order; food, a mace, any gold, anything else that may be useful be it weapons, rope, equipment, maps, etc. After she has done a search of the ground floor, no doubt joined by Cali'Shad it seems, she will move up to the next floor following the trail of dead bodies (or rather, following the trail of Shyish energy her secondsight picks up, whilst subconciously moving from body to body - Athyia is more reliant on her arcane senses than those the others would use).

Kayla quickly stepped up the stairs, at the top the soldier who had run away was struggling with a chest, but upon hearing his pursuers getting closer, he abandoned it and fled for his life up another set of stairs. Curses and swearing erupted from a cage on the right side of the room. The warrior turned just sligtly, to speak to the corsair who was following her. "There's a druchii prisoner here, and a locked chest of some kind. You can do with them what you wish. I'm heading up to the beacon."

She walked across the room steadily, her eyes methodically covering the room for any signs of danger. As Kayla walked past the cell, she spoke to the prisoner. "We'll have you free soon enough." The only remarkable feature Kayla noticed about him was his stark white hair - Just like Geralt - as she didn't stop for more than a moment. At the foot of the stairs, Kayla looked up them but saw no signs of any danger.

After leaping up to the last two stairs, Kayla's finely honed senses alerted her of... something in the room beyond.

Kayla wants to kill the 'one who got away' (and any other guards who may be lurking) to, hopefully, finally secure the building. She also wishes to destroy the beacon - those are her two objectives. She'll leave the loot and the prisoner to the other characters to deal with.

Khitai stood up swiftly. The noice of blades meeting each other i battle, mearly gave a hope of freedom of some sort. Someone who would set him free, or release him by sending him to the afterlife, he could not stand the life in this cell.

The assault was advancing fast, and he could hear the soldiers death more clearly. It didn't take long time before one guard runed past him, his face was white with fear. What was this?, what could frightned the humas so? He became more restless, and started to pull and push the cellbars, swearing and cursing at the same time.

He wanted blood on his hans now, more than ever, wanted revenge upon thoose who put to him to a life in this horrible cell.

Suddenly she appeared. No sound at all as she moved like a tiger hunting it's pray. She turned her head and said, "We'll have you free soon enough," and then she dissapeared. Khitai was releafed to see one of his kindsmann, but the surprise warmed a cold heart. He knew she was after blood, but couldn't forgive her for beeing selfish and not setting him free so he could join her, giving him the satisfaction of revenge.

Khitai eagerly awaits for somene to release him.

OCC: You all seem to know Assani's character, but I didn't find him quickly. Could you tell me where I can find him?

IC:
The stairway was of pretty crude making, nothing more to be expected from feeble humans. Still they could kill an unaware druchii. As if mocking his thoughts he heard words in their native tongue from upstairs. Following it they came to a small corridor, wher he could still glimpse sight of the fleeing guard. Having nothing better to do he fired two bolts towards his back.
In the style of the rest of the building the corridor was of bad making and ugly. When he saw the cell and the prisoner in it his respect for the humans rose instantly. Not as much though as his contempt for the prisoner. Darkelfs should not be captured like slave by the weaker races, winning or death.

"We'll have you free soon enough." , his companion promised. He didn't really like the thought of here standing next to him while he … inquired their new friend.

“Don't worry, sweetheart, I'll take care of this. You can go on and enjoy yourself, but please leave something for me as well.” He knew it wasn't smart to anger her ALL the time but in his current mode he did not have the nerve to control his temper.

In case that Kayla follow the soldier, he'll turn around to Khitai point his hand bow at him and say:
And now to you my friend. No worries you will come out of this cell. I would never leave a druchii behind captive.
Now it's up to you weather you'll be alive or dead. Tell me your storry and I'll see what we can do for you. Does that seem fair?
I'm sure you can understand my hesitation to trust a druchii, who at that has been captured by humans and is a lown in a cell in a Bretonina, let's call it a tower for the loss of an more adequate word for this standing pill of rubble
.”
At that he'll have a look at the lock and try to figure out how to best free Khitai. A new companion would be most welcome if he can trust him as much as the rest of the group (likely).

OOC: its about time to continue methinks.

IC: Athyia hunted through the two rooms on the ground floor of the tower, searching for anything that may be of some use or value. (rolled a 6 for things-finding) There were three small stacks of coins on the table in the main room which could be passed off as druchii tender easily enough, and a handful of paper scraps with odd human glyphs on them - obviously made for some kind of game, else where Athyia came across a few general supplies in a cupboard behind the main door, a few spools of rope, a pair of torches, a lantern, a tinderbox, and some dry rations. Finally turning her attention to the dead guard, who she had been almost subconsciously syphoning energy from all the while, he carried a few more coins, the dagger he had used to fight Kayla and very little else, though his broken pike may have some worth as a crude axe. Calis poked his head in every few moments as the mage poked about, keeping an eye on what was found and noting anything he might be able to use.

Upstairs Sangui watched his quarry run ahead, but left the man to the dubious mercies of Kayla while he worked to free the prisoner. He peered at the lock on the door and fiddled with it for a bit (-1 for no lockpicking experience, rolled a 2), grilling the khainite as to why he was here and, more importantly, why he had let hisself get captured by humans to end up here, but after a few moments of frustration and interogation Sangui gave up on the lock and instead kicked the mounting several times and pried the door open wide enough for Khitai to step out. The khainite was unarmed and unarmoured, but he had seen the garrison stash his gear in the chest just down the corridor when he was first caught.

Leaving Sangui fighting with the lock Kayla swept up the stairs, anticipating another fight of her own, as she reached the third floor though she realised she may have pushed on a little too fast. This level was obviously the main barack/armoury area and Kayla was met by the rest of the garrison, five men all told each carrying a shield and shortsword, except for a man who was obviously the leader, who stood in full plate wielding two short and broad handaxes.

so sangui is letting Khitai out, Khitai is (after thanking Sangui profusely, I'm sure) fetching his gear out of the chest, Calis is watching the door and the loot (the balcony is on the third floor btw Cal), and Kayla is facing four guards and a knight. Carry on.

Deadline is... whatever we decide(d) in the OOC thread.

Athyia began her search by checking the tables at the side of the room, and there found several small stacks of gold coins which would be of some value back in Naggaroth, even if it was just to be melted down and turned into proper elven coins. She found some small human scripts but ignored them, moving on to the cupboards and finding some potentially useful supplies; rope, two torches, a lantern, a tinderbox and some rations. She then checked the guard she has just leeched, finding a couple more human coins and a small dagger. All the time she had been searching, Cali'Shad had been coming in and out of the room as well, whilst also watching outside. The Mage thought it only right that she split the spoils with him, especially since he had been quick to try and bring them together as a group. She still didn't trust him, but she supposed of all the mercenaries she was stuck with he would be the least of a problem. That, and the last thing she wanted to do now was start a fight over a few human scraps.

She pocketed the coins, which would be worthless until they returned to Naggaroth unless they needed to bribe a human, and even then she reasoned death-threats would work better than a small sum of money. She also took a torch, and retrieved the dagger from the dead guard. When Cal next presented himself, she waved him over and offered him the second torch, the lantern and tinderbox, and the rope. The rations she lay out on the table, and was about to start dividing them into four roughly equal piles when she heard something from above. It sounded like the echo of another swordfight coming from the upper levels, and since Kayla and the Corsair had not returned in the few minutes she had been searching she could only assume they were now in trouble, or perhaps trying to kill one another. Stowing the dagger at her belt and leaving the rations for now, Athyia made her way to the bottom of the stairs before turning back to Cali'Shad.

"Something's going on upstairs. Unless you can see any threats outside I think you should join me in going up. I don't fancy our chances at taking that boat back off the crew if those two get themselves killed."

Taking the dagger, and the coins [how many are there all together?], but leaving the rest for the others. Will divide the rations into four when she comes back down [or five, since she will no doubt discover Khitai upstairs]. Will now move up after the others, drawing on the Shyish energies that are no doubt swirling around this newly anointed slaughterhouse. She has asked Cal to follow but will not wait up for him. If she reaches the top she will ignore the new arrival for the time being (unless he poses her a threat) and try to deal with the guards by the beacon.

I think taking over ones mind with images of his own death inside the tower, should be just about enough to make him evacuate the tower in terror (ie, leap out the top floor window to his death!)

Yes, Athyia is a cruel mistress.

As Kayla swiftly ascended the stairs, she could here the other two entering the ground floor while Sengui approached the caged cell and began speaking to the prisoner. She had been a little distracted. Silently cursing as five guards stood none too distant, ten feet at most, covering the room side to side. The middle one heavily armed and armoured, who also appeared to their sergeant. These bastards were waiting. Retreat, or push forward?

Unconsciously, she had stepped to the top of the stairs, just beyond the banister. The guard stood resolutely, eight feet or so away, all of them prepared for a fight. Kayla knew she had a few option of how to handle the current predicament. But how could she challenge the leader? Or should she shout for help? Kayla only had the briefest of hesitations before the men stood forward, forcing her to make a quick decision.

First, Kayla will try to challenge the leader by some means - snarling, cursing, giving him 'the look', pointing her sword of shield at him, or a combination of these...
If that fails, Kayla will try to retreat down the stairs and hold them at bay there, since they'll (hopefully) be bottle-necked. This may then allow her companions to come in and flank her.

OOC: Do you mind little comments like this? Or should we reserve all OOC stuff for the OOC thread of DOOM?

Kayla is trained and disciplined at fighting in formation as well solo-combat, so either of these solutions is something (I think) she would do. Just trying to play my character, Kayla isn't very bright (impetuous is a better word) at only I2

Calishad was now familiarized with the courtyard perimeter.
The shack was probably once built up as a kitchen, as it was a safe practice to separate dangerous fire sources from the main building.
He knew three openings in the tower: the door, the balcony on the 3rd floor, and the top which was likely to be open even if he couldn’t see it.
Is there another opening on the opposite side, not seen yet?
As nothing was going on outside, Calis’Shad went quickly all around the tower, noting any detail that might have been ignored so far, about the tower or the courtyard.

Back inside the tower, he checked that nothing important went forgotten.
The most striking in the entrance room was a dead man in a pool of blood, still seating on his chair.
He had been savagely butchered, his throat wide open. What remained from his face seemed terrified. His sword was still in its sheath.
He was not given a chance. Kayla's work. She's just a wild beast.
Closer to the stairs was another dead guard. This one was neatly killed. An easily recognizable handbow bolt was emerging from his eye.
A direct shot to the brain. A clean Corsair's work. Well done, mate.

Calis'Shad had a chance to observe Athyia thoroughly searching the two rooms. She’s doing it perfectly!
Athyia waved at him and silently showed him the table where she had left a torch, a lantern, a tinderbox, a rope and ample rations of food.
Calis’Shad smile illuminated his face. So she knows about the Corsair Expeditionary Division of Labor?
Excellent!, did he say in appreciation. Sure, light sources were less useful for Elves than for the poor Human eyesight, and Calis’Shad already had a shorter rope spared from the bag launched from the felucca. But the food would no doubt be useful: Human food could be eaten by Elves, usually with no dramatic intestine consequences.
He left all the stuff on the table, for later examination.

Above, the vigorous swearing had ceased. Kayla said something. Then a dialogue could be heard between two male voices, one being the Corsair's.
At that distance, Calis’Shad couldn’t understand the words.
Regular metallic kicks were to be heard, but not the kind that a battle produces, more likely something being broken or torn apart.

Athyia urged him to go upstairs with her. She disappeared in the stairway.
Before following her, Calis’Shad double-checked the way out. He made sure that the path from the stairs to the door outside was clear from corpses and scattered chair debris.
He intended to go back and forth between the floor above and the tower’s entrance, unless he would be useful somewhere.
He also took the time to swallow a mouthful of fresh water.

After having checked all around the tower, Calis’Shad barely examined Athyia’s “booty”.
Calis’Shad will follow Athyia upstairs, and look around for a minute.
If there is no need for him, he will go back downstairs, look outside, and move upstairs again.

<OOC: Understand that the balcony is on the armoury floor that Kayla has just joined.>

Just as the warrior where out of sight of Khitai, a corsair came up, and said to the warrior while she where walking away“Don't worry, sweetheart, I'll take care of this. You can go on and enjoy yourself, but please leave something for me as well.”

Then he turned around, and said to Khitai “ And now to you my friend. No worries you will come out of this cell. I would never leave a druchii behind captive.
Now it's up to you weather you'll be alive or dead. Tell me your storry and I'll see what we can do for you. Does that seem fair?

Khitai stared at him with his cold grey eyes and said "tales may be told in other occasions, just get me out of this stinking hole". The corsair just went on and on insulting Khitai, but he just overlooked it.....for now. He was to focused getting his revenge on the humans who had brought him here, though he could not remember how that happend.

The corsair struggled to unlock on the celldoor. While the corsair worked on the lock, Khitai took a good look at the corsair. His clothes and armour, even his weapons where worn, filthy and deity. But what struck him, was the corsairs bright blue eyes, they had a strong glow in them.

Finally the lock broke, not by picking it, but by force. Khitai opened the door, looked up and said to the corsair "gratitude, I will now get my weapons and armour". He ran down the corridor to pick up his gear. He remembered that the humans put his gear in a chest in the corridor.

Khitai will run down the corridor and pick up his gear and run back after the warrior to join her in battle. If he meets more of his kinsman, he will just run past them, makeing no threat to them.

OOC: Edited, cause i missread/understood where the chest was, tnx Cal for pointing me in the right direction

Hearing the sounds of a fight he let the sorry excuse of an darkelf out even without a proper explanation. With some luck he could come in hand in the next fight.

Ignoring the others tanks he ran down the corridor. When he saw the remaining guards he stopped. This was way more then he had expected. Not only were the guards better equipped then the ones he had seen so far, but also more and more disciplined.
His biggest worry how ever was their leader, íf he was to be any capable he had the resources to give them a fight in which they needed to work to gather in order to win.
At least Kayla had done something smart and run which was more than what he had expected from her. At a bottleneck the humans had no chance of winning, the only problem was that they might realise that too.
If they could kill the leader the rest should be easy fun.

“Hey, Kayla, how about a little game? The one with more kills wins the loot. The leader counts as three.”

Trying to judge his chances in melee and ranged combat he automatically emptied his bow towards the leader, or who ever was blocking the path for a clear shoot. Depending on his chances he will then either go in to melee or stay a bit back. The leader is his propriety target but he will not go into an exposed position to fight him.

If Kayla's challenge worked he will leave the two in peace and take care of the rest of the soldiers, trying to keep them in a safe distance from himself and the duel.

OOC: continuing for the weekend. My posting might be a bit iffy over the next half a week or so, just letting you know.

IC: Calis checked around the parameter of the tower up to where it met the outside wall, but besides a patch of moss on the tower wall that could - with a little stretch of the imagination - be compared to the Circlet of Iron he found nothing of particular interest. Inside Athyia had found plenty of supplies and moderate valuables and busied herself pocketing some things and dividing others up, however a few moment after Calis returned inside, expressing pleased surprise at Athyia's forward-thinking, a cufufle came from the floor above and leaving her organising Athyia headed upstairs with her staff aglow, stopping to suggest that Calis follow. The pair moved up to the second floor, where Calis once again hung back to cover the rearguard while Athyia carried on to the growing sound of battle above.

Meanwhile, Kayla pointed her sword at the obvious leader of the garrison and, following the code of chivalry bred into all bretonian knights, he barked a few order to his men who stood to the edges of the room and stepped into the impromptu duelling circle that was formed. As the two warriors watched each other across the room Sangui marched up the stairs and emptied the rest of his handbow clip into the nearest soldier, peppering him with holes, and pulling out his dagger as the other soldiers moved up to deal with him. A few seconds later Khitai charged up the stairs and slammed into the semi-prepared formation, knocking the guards apart a moment and managing to score a couple of cuts across one man's shield arm before dropping bakc beside Sangui.

Athyia:
+ dagger
+ torch
+ 37 human moneys (everybody fine with calling them crowns?)

Kayla is facing off the axe-wielding knight in the middle of the room, Khitai and Sangui are hemmed in by three guards by the stairs, Athyia is at the bottom of the stairs with Sangui and Khitai between her and the fighting, Calis is on the second floor rearguard-ing. Carry on.

OOC: from here on ranged weapon ammo is being counted, because it has just occurred to me that any character with a ranged weapon could fire forever otherwise. Cal has two clips of five bolts at the end of the post and Sangui has three clips of four.
