The horde by GeOrc

Post by Georc »

Hi all,
here are the latest news from my beastmen army. I finished the female bray shaman. The miniature was sculptured by a friend, Sascha Buczek, also a many times demon winner and slayer sword winner. It was produced as a limited piece by New Wave Mail Order where I bought it. This was his second sculpt and so it misses a lot of technical skills. It misses sharp edges and also smooth surfaces. Nether the less it´s a nice miniature and I put a lot of effort in it to make it the center of my small Slaanesh beastmen horde. To make it a real eyecatcher I painted additional to the green flame a source lighning effect. Alos I add some freehands to decorate the boting loincloth. I hope you like it:

Georc, do you ever stop amazing me? I can tell that the surface isn't the smothest I have ever seen and yes, it lacks slightly the sharp edge look but only because you pointed it out to me. This is yet an other masterpice. Can you tell us how you created the "velvet-look" purple on the beld she is wearing? For a Beast(wo)men and ignoring the green things she looks rather apealing ;).
You’re a wreck, an accident.
Forget the freak, your just nature.

Stunning paintjob and sculpt as usual. I'm not completely sold on the source lighting, it's nice, but somehow a bit wrong. I can't exactly say how to improve on it tho, so that point is somewhat pointless.

One thing, which I find a bit funny is that the so often used word "female" often just means "bare boobs". Dunno, maybe they are needed to provide evidence of being female. :)

Anyway, great stuff. Would be cool to see a pic of all your beastmen together in a group shot.

Cheers

hey that's pretty good, man.

My only constructive feedback is that they look like she has surgical implants (I hope you are okay with seeing something other than the usual sycophant comment, but i thought you might find something like this a little more useful to you).

hey, how about if you just relax and quit taking yourself so seriously

i've noticed that its not green under the arms, on her side torso, maybe that's why? i havnt got the sharpest eyes, but that was what i thought...

which is not to say that i dont like the model, just had that same feeling, and wondered if this will give arcturus some better ideas?

Hi all,

@ Sinzaren,
The gold is my standard NMM Gold receipt which consist of a basis Snakebite Leather, shaded with scorched Brown and highlights from Golden Yellow to different mixes of Golden yellow With Skull White.

@ MDK,
good to see that I´m still able to surprise you ;)
The cloth based on a mix of liche pruple and Red Gore 1:1, then shaded with liche purple and for the deeper shadows a mix of Hawk Turquoise and Chaos Black. For the Highlights add Ice Blue to the basic mix and make a finelining with Space wolfs Grey.
Hope that helps

@ Lord Adrianuns,
I only have a WIP shot for you ;)

http://www.dunkelelfen-georc.de/Bilder/ ... rde001.jpg

This is my horede consist of:

Female Bray Shaman
Level II
Mark of Slaanesh
Chaos Armour
Stuff of Darkoth

8/5 Beastmen Horde
two hand weapons
shilds for the ungors
full Command

1 Tuskgor Chariot

5 Centigors
Shilds
full Command

altogehter nearly 500 Pts

@ Arcturus
That was my aim to do create the OSL Effect in that way. I know that it isn´t completly realistic but I want to set the light only on one side and concentrate on the head and the area around it. I avoid to make it an Overall OSL because without I have a two side miniature even if you look from the front, otherwise the OSL covers the whole model... somthing that I don´t like. It´s not realistic but personal taste. But you are correct there are some calculated mistakes.

Another awesome model from the master !

This is very impressive as always. I really wish I could paint (and convert) as well as that...

Well done GeOrc - yet another masterpiece of the kind that GW could only ever dream about producing.

Have you no shame?! Lol great work as usual! I like the magical effects alot. Why did you go with such a pink skintone?(since most beastmen are more brownish)

So if anyone ever needs to specify a mini as "male"...? :)

OT though, the paintjob, as usual, is great.

Fantastic painting, not sold on the sculpt.

Although obviously extremely talented I just dont like the pose. It looks like the beastwoman is taken aback by an awful smell emanating from the end of the staff...

Dont like the bare chest either...not a fan of it on sculpts, kinda makes me think of the scultor as a perv...but hey thats clearly just me lol.
People say I'm cocky, I say it's because they know I'm the best.

I think I know what's wrong with the source lighting: the source isn't bright enough. You should add some lighter or brighter tints (add white or yellow, respectively) at the base of the flames, near the hand.
Count them:

Painted in 2013: 500
Painted in 2014: 600
Painted in 2015: 854

This is the sort of inspirational stuff that really makes me want to jump back into my unfinished BoC drawer collection.

Georc, you never seize to amaze me with the level of detail you’re able to get into your painting. I've got no idea how you're able to get those notches, bloodsplatters and SENMM on something as small as the ungor halberd/spear.

Agree with Damnation on the OSL, the light source should be lighter then the areas on which the light falls. And though the flame in the picture is a bit lighter/yellower I think the contrast should be a bit bigger.

Can't wait for the next update.

Yeah I like it. I've seen the middle pic before, but the advance on the unit champ is looking most extremely good. Man I've gotts go get some brown stuff. Beastman-arium looks pretty sweet so far too.

Question for you : have you tried ApoxieSculpt? If so, what do you think of it?

It's funny to know that somewhere in germany, the worlds best looking beastman army is slowly, painfully, taking shape. :D I wish that you finish them soon, because I want to see you paint Dark Elves, rather than beasts, even tho the beasts are nice. :D Very nice stuff. /thumbs up

Outstanding. Hopefully you can finish the army before it gets totally redone and your beautiful models have to be used as "counts as" something else.
