Black Guard, Sorceress and Assassin - painted

Post by Teefie »

Hi

I have finally finished my Black Guard unit, as well as my sorceress and assassin. I am not too happy with the way the conjured magic swirls of my sorceress came out, but I will grow used to it.

At the moment, I am busy painting my Hydra.

My other painted DE can be viewed here: http://s63.photobucket.com/albums/h137/oktanol/Dark%20Elves/?albumview=grid

Sweet ... beautiful pieces, albeit a bit bright for my liking!

I really like your colourscheme; very undruchii, but the way you paint the models it doesn't look like some elves feeding their nice horses. They look evil :) .
The sorceress' magic swirls could use some highlights however

Awesome! I've never seen this colour-scheme on druchii before, but it looks great (the faces are also very nicely painted)

Very nice! Not the typical color scheme obviously, but very well done.

My only criticisms are that:

I don't like the way you've done the weapon blades. It seems to me that the lighter color on the blades should only be on the sharp parts, and not on the un-sharpened parts of the weapons.

I think the highlighting on the black cloth (like the assassin's cloak) could be blended a bit more.

That's a very striking colour scheme! I particularly like the Guard. I was thinking of something similar for my Dark Eldar, but never really thought of it for my elves! Very nicely done!

Very nice, very different but very nice. I applaud your vision for taking an un-Druchii colour scheme and making it work so well.

These are very cool and beautifully done. Yellow is a rare choice but it worked out fine.

Hi, thanks for the feedback.

The sorceress' magic swirls could use some highlights however

I did put on extreme highlighting on the swirls, but it started making the model looking 'funny', so I reverted back to less highlighting.

I don't like the way you've done the weapon blades. It seems to me that the lighter color on the blades should only be on the sharp parts, and not on the un-sharpened parts of the weapons.

I think the highlighting on the black cloth (like the assassin's cloak) could be blended a bit more.

I think I will use Boltgun Metal in stead of Mithril Silver on the metal parts that are not sharp.

thanks for the comment on the black cloth - I will soften the highlights on the black cloth for my next projects.

I have to add that the back of the sorceress looks very sexy with your colour scheme ^^

You pervert! ;)

These are part of the "not so Dark Elves" nsDE :)

And yes, the sorceress's behind looks sweet

How did you do the black cloth on the Assassin? I like your highlighting!

The weapons on the BG are overhighlighted but otherwise they look stunning.

The assassin looks like Scorpion from mortal kombat hehe

Very nice mate. The painting level and scheme are very good.

My only criticism is that the blade egdes look to out of place to its much darker middle. I would probably try to blend the colors into each other some more.

Other than that great work.

cheers.

And over his back is a cloak of which speaks to him of his past for he himself had long since forgotten it.
