Cauldron of Blood ~ Pretty standard. No conversions.

Image
Druchii Warriors ~ Command group used Corsair parts for their swords. I think its a better look than the one in the box.

Manticore ~ I always thought that the dragon wings the Maticore came with was too big for it. Here's my take with a pair of Bloodthirster wings.

I really like your scheme and your painting style.
I think the darkish red and black make a good contrast that is a good for a Druchii army.

Your painting is crisp and neat, which makes for a great table worthy painted army.
Looking forward to seeing more of your models. Good job

Oh by the way, the Bloodthirster wings on the manticore is a brutal idea.

Fantastic look of the minis, and very appropriate for the Dark Elves!
Looking forward to seeing additional models.

I have a question: I see your Cauldron of Blood has a base added under the cauldron itself that didn't come in my box... did you added that base or was my box missing this extra base? I'm afraid the later would be the case, as I order a long, long time ago!

Thanks a lot, and thanks for sharing this army,
Rafa.

THanks for the comments!

@MalicousMetal - the reds I chose came from the cover of the Druchii armybook. Glad you like it!

@RafaPolit - The base for the Cauldron is something I had extra and was thinking of conversion work. Although nothing comes to mind yet. Hehe any suggestions?

I like the use of various reds that all tie together. Good contrast, nice painting, nice standard, easy to pick out Champion - there's nothing I don't like. Two thumbs up, well done!

That red really pops. I like the scheme a lot.

My only critcism is the banner -- the serpent looks blurry, and I would proably add some ornamentation to the line-work. That box around the serpent looks just a little bit too simple.

i think the colour scheme is great, but i have a suggestion for the bases. It is too remarked that you didn't paint them (not that it is bad thing, just that i personally think is better to paint it first). I suggest you either paint them white (as for the snow) or brown as for the dirt, as it will highlight the colour better than the natural black that the basins have.

but i really like your painting!

As for the size of the wings. Remember that they have to lift that monster throw the air... they are more suitable sizewise than the ones you put to it, but it sure the new ones make it look cooler!

I always like your work, but today I have a gripe. The skin looks a little too humanoid for my liking. Otherwise I like the simple, but effective, conversions.

Elves are humanoids, slightly paler skin but not an entirely different tone from white humans.

Love them mate. The colour scheme is strangely reminiscent of my own druchii, perhaps that's why. ;)

I may have to steal that manti idea if i ever make another, it just looks so much better, and conveniently i have a pair of thirster wings in the bitz box.
Best Regards, Comrade Igor.

Thanks for the honest critiques and comments everyone! (^-^)

@Dyvim Tar: Yeah, the banner's ready for a do-over. hehehe

@Ulric Darksoul I kinda like the fact that the bases are black. I had an army with the base painted Graveyard Earth, but I thought Black would suit the Dark Elves better. As for the wings, I kinda find the Manti and the Thirster to be closer size-wise, as opposed to the dragon.

My theory was that the "arms" of the wings itself (picture it without the skin) are a little too big to be appendages of the Manti. Whereas the Thirster's "arms" seem to be just right. But thats just me. Heheh Thanks for your input, you did make me think a lot about it. :D

@DarkMark: Thank you! I've always painted my Elves this way. Tallarn Flesh, washed with Gryphonne Sepia then slowly highlighted to Elf Flesh. Point taken. Hmm, maybe I should try up to bleached bone. Or that pale pinkish foundation color.

@Comrade Igor: Thank you for the compliments! Red for Druchii is awesome! You can tell just by looking at the AB cover. Hehehhe btw, if you do the manti, I want to see it too.

Hey,

I really like what you've done so far. The armour, cloth, skin colour & basing goes really well together and although we have seen many a red Druchii force in recent weeks, these really stand out. As far as the banner goes; yeah the serpent is a bit blurry (still, a not too shabby freehand effort) but I really like the yellow lines around the bottom, though the box maybe needs to go. The small kitbashes you have with the Corsair parts & Bloodthirster wings etc are nice and in particular Im looking forward to seeing what you do with that Manticore.

Good work.

@Xizor - Thank you for the input on the banner. Will have to redo that. If you look at the Dark Elves Army Book, you can see where I'm going with my Warrior Banner. (^-^)

I was actually thinking of painting my own banner in a paint program and printing it and then sealing it with varnish and then gluing it onto the banner pole. Whats everybody's take on that?

I like the black base color, it completes the red, silver/white, black color triad that has always been a strong combination. The bloodthirster wings are a great match for the manti....the furry wildness of them works so much better than the dragon wings that I'm surprised we haven't seen that conversion before. All in all fantastic job, what's next on the bench ?

Thanks Lazarus. Should be updating with my Sarcon-inspired dreadlord. One with the Caledor's Bane and swappable with a Hydra Blade-wielding one. ^-^ Gimme a few to upload the pics.

Looks fine honestly, but for that extra touch you can add some druchii runes just below the serpent, and make the border less square and more druchii, if you know what i mean.

THanks Comrade Igor. Just added the runes, like the cover of our Army Book. But I kinda like the border square. Copied too much from the cover.

That dreadlord is amazing! I can see that your Gold "formula" really works, although Im not too sure I have the skills to pull that off.

What is he made from? It looks like standard Cold One Knight with HE dragonlord sword and a VC character horse?

Banner looks cleaner and much improved.

New stuff kicks @$$ -- like the hydra base a lot.

Edtharion -- head on that horse is from a Bret pegasus.
