Cheap way to makes shades
Greetings fellow druchii,
I have finally decided to try out the shade star technique. Don't be alarmed though, its just for fun.
So I need about 20 shades and I don't feel like dishing out $125 for them. Does anyone know an easy yet effective way to create shades? I thought about getting some wood elf glade gaurd and using dark elf warrios pieces to build some. Though I realized that the wood elf heads don't look very dark elfy at all. Do the models have hoods? Has anyone tried this? Any better ideas? Any pictures?
Thanks,
Icing Death

yes, the glade guard have hoods, 2-3 varients i think, the rest you can use spare corsair heads; the part you have to cut away is the arrow container on the back of the cloak; corsair weapon and hand bow comes in handy for the conversion too.

I am also planning on using glade guard for the conversion, I however do not have any quarrel with the appearance of the glade guard models. I don't really think shades would look very much like dark elves anyway. According to the fluff I have read, shades are tribal and they exist in the wild largely independent from dark elf society. I think the glade guard models look fairly fitting, considering their natural look, they just need a touch of evil. I will paint mine so they appear to be adorned in tattered rustic animal hides and I will also attempt facial tattoos, hopefully that will tilt the scale towards sinister looking.
I plan on using the RxB arms from the corsair box, but I am still wondering what to use for great weapons.... I really want big axes.
Macknight good idea on using corsair heads, that would really work well I think.

Ouch, you misunderstood me. 'I got them' does not mean 'I'm want to sell them'. 'Got them' means 'bought them', I was nearly illustraiting how cheap models may be with some haggle + a lot of persistence.
