The cheapest solutions

Hey.
I'm new to this site, but I have visited for a long time without posting. And I thought it was time for this post to be made. Maybe if it is successful enough we could make it a sticky.

Well, one of the biggest issues with this hobby is its price cost. Every time we want a new unite in our army we have to buy 10-20 metal models at an extremely unfair price. So I suggest we make a list of all our metal units and find some easy and cheap way of converting existing plastic models.
It is also possible to post models of other brands then citadel miniatures, if they are cheaper and of the same standard as Games Workshops own models.

Post all your tips, and link to any article you find useful to this subject. Remember this is not always about making the most beautiful unit. But the cheapest and easiest. But of course the prettier the better.

Here is a few links I've found about some of the models. I don't take any credit in writing these threads.

Hey, Killman, thanks for the post! :D
You're displaying the same spirit as I did when I undertook the D.R.A.I.C.H., wishing to contribute in an useful and practical way,
and feeling that when something does not exist, make it yourself!

Your merits are even greater coming from a newcomer.

I wish you the same success as the D.R.A.I.C.H. :D (into which I linked the present thread).

Back to topic, if someone is tight with £€$$ than a budget to spend, the army list can be adapted:

why not consider an army with many characters?
Sorceresses & assassins behave well when complemented by shielded RXBmen and RBTs.

Named characters are worth considering.
Shadowblade, Lokhir may be considered as not competitive, but for sure they bring impressive beneifts without spending much money.
Later on, if you regret your investment, Shadowblade can be converted to a regular assassin or a shade, while Lokhir can be used as a footed character.

Some options cost nothing and spend pts with useful benefits:
Magic-maxed characters, khaine-maxed assassins
shields on RXBmen and spearmen
RXB on DR
GW on shades
FC on infantry and COK, and magic banners
RoH or Null Shards on COK or BG champs.

Second-hand models come to mind as well. See the Trading Forum.

Finally, using proxies is a very common method to check how you feel with a unit, before committing real money to buy it.
I've even seen some models made with LEGO bricks & LEGO small puppets

EDIT:
I just realized that, while answering to your 2 previous posts, everyone forgot to wish you a warm:

Welcome, killman, in Druchii.net! :D

For you English, don't worry, the more you type the easier it gets.
Many D.netters speak English as a foreign language.
This is why there is a strict policy here to ban obscure acronyms and slang.
