i like the cold ones. i would have put 2 of them on individual bases though, to easily be able to remove casualties.

Thanks for the feedback it helps me to keep working on them.
Here's another 2 units of crossbows.
I think I must have some kind of mental block when it comes to the cold ones knights. I've been puting them off for ages now and I'm not sure what to do with them anymore!
So next up will be another unit of spears or black guard. we shall see....

I'm pleased to say that I've made a bit of progress since my last update.
A second unit of Black Guard are almost complete, just the champion to go..
Here are some of my old Cold Ones, still need to re-base..
Still have plenty to keep me occupied!
While I had the camera set up I took some of the army so far..

I have two different methods, one for the black guard and one for the spearmen.
Firstly the black guard.
To be completely honest the black guard armour is a bit hit and miss. Sometimes it comes out well other times it makes me swear!
The basecoat is chainmail. Then comes the hit and miss part - I make a wash with chaos black as it has more pigment than the badab black and because it is a lot darker I try to keep away from the edges of the armour leaving a thin line of chainmail. Two or three coats later you should be seeing a good contrast between the chainmail and pure black.
The same method is used for the corsairs' & speamen's helmets. For the spearmen's body armour it's fairly simple chainmail basecoat, a couple of washes with badab black, then drybrush with chainmail, then highlight with mithril silver.
Cheers.

I managed to find the manufacturer for the grass. It's a company in the UK named Green Scene.
http://www.green-scene.co.uk/Scatters.html
The product in question is: Reeds GS/315 the old retail price was £1.85 for a small baggy with enough 3" reeds (obviously cutting to a small size) to base a decent sized army (2 baggies max.)
It looks as if they are building a new website as most of the pages are under construction however, you can contact them via email: john.s.lloyd@lineone.net
Cheers
