Thanks for the comments guys - it took only a couple of weekends work (fairly quick job)

Here is my Armies on Parade Board which I won gold for!!!

I am now at a crossroads as to my next project - I have finished my Drow elves and Dwarfs so no looking for a new long term project.

I think your Dwarves are amongst my favourite models displayed on this forum.

They have so much character and charm.

Thanks TD, Amboadine, I had just finished the majority of the army when the new release came out and was very tempted to add to it, the new models are great. But I have to many Dark Elves left to paint so it's back to them and a new army theme.

Hmm - I'm thinking something nautical

So with the End Times upon us and now being in between painting armies I thought I would try something new.

Here is the new champion of Khaine - The Aestyrion! A few more touches to make and then time to paint.

This is a really nice conversion.

One thing about it that doesn't match the fluff is Malhandir, as Mr Horsey isn't consumed by Khaineness.

But otherwise you have cooked up the first Evil Tyrion I have seen 8)

Thanks TD - I couldn't find out what happens to the horse with all my browsing of the forums - I presume it is also engulfed in the rage of Khaine - at least that is what I was going for with my interpretation of it - I don't have the books to draw upon.

My plan is to paint it similar to the Avatar of Khaine with fire n brimstone.

I did a bit more work on it tonight experimenting with the base using eggshell to create a cracked earth texture... pretty happy with the effect so far.

Malhandir did not fall to Khaine frenzy.
The horse served Tyrion faithfully while his master was falling progressively in darkness, until nearly the end of the book (p.135/142).
But when Tyrion charged Teclis with the intention to behead his twin brother, that became too much for Marhandir. He did not wish to have his kin accused to have served such a master fallen to the Dark Side.
He reared up just before Tyrion could hit and the rider was unsaddled. Tyrion attacked back his horse, which flew away and never was heard of again.
This gave time for Malekith to attack Tyrion.

 damn - should I change the horses head?

I was thinking of painting the horse engulfed in flames as well - but from what you tell me fluff wise this would not be correct.

Malhandir has two characteristics:
- really fast, even faster than Malekith's Seraphon;
- extremely intelligent for a horse.
Meanwhile, Tyrion is more and more falling to Khaine folly. His face is full of hatred and madness.

This was one of the long running jokes since the dawn of 4th edition.

That a certain horse was more intelligent than the entirety of an opposition army (Goblins).

Making progress on my version of Aestyrion.

interesting project trying to get the flames looking good.

I used Egg Shell for the cracked earth effect.

Hi Duffman - it's one of the hands that came from the Gouls kit - they are great suitably evil/twisted!

I have finished Aestyrion - Avatar of Khaine.

Fairly happy how this turned out, not something I would normally paint (with all the fire) I found it quite a challenge.

Looks amazing. And poor horse, it seems it took quite a lot of damage in Tyrion's transformation and doesn't like it one bit.
