Dark Elf statues?

Post by Kendoka »

Hi!

I am planning to build some sort of Dark Elf temple complete with statues and CoBs.

Need inspiration on what to add...
Would be nice if you could provide me with good examples of DE terrain and statues...

Here is my first attempt (still WIP):

That's pretty damn cool!

What model (or sculpture) is it based on?

Very nice work indeed. The bronzing effect is nice, however the blood looks a little thin and watery in the photo. Might just be a trick of the light.

Holy crap that is one amazing statue! Where'd you get it? (although I can see Dark Eldar raider bits so it's clearly converted from something)

I agree on the blood. I think a few coats of Blood for the Blood God paint will make it amazing and thick.

Is that a dark eldar jet bike used for the front of the helmet?
Looks awesome by the way, but definitely can't go wrong with more blood

Well, I'm thinking there's no way that much actual blood would form a drop like that, judging from the scale of the statue. I'm guessing it was done to look like some kind of crystal carved to resemble blood?

Looks great!

That is really cool! Yeh the blood just does not work for me - I would do it bronze. I think the thing that does not work the most is the way it pools at the tips/drips, if it was just flat fading to nothing I think it would look better.

Awesome idea I have thought of building a dark elf city at some stage - looking forward to see what else you come up with.

I'm well impressed you saw that ugly base model and turned it into such a beautiful statue - bravo.

Thanks for the feedback.

The blood is just glue mixed with Tamiya X27(?) on top of clear plastic.
Still W.I.P. - and will hopefully look good once finished.
Planning to have it look like it is beeing pumped like a fountain of sorts.

Many new hobby projects starting up right now...
Hopefully I will find the time and energy to keep you updated.
