[PLOG] The Citizens of Khaine

I will be posting some of my army here. In the meantime, model of the moment is my new BSB. I realised I didn't have a proper BSB in my ranks, usually I just have a standard on a magnetic base that floats around where I need it, but I had a spare body kicking around so...
I normally kit out a BSB with a shield, sea dragon cloak and some sort of sword.
The body was a spare charioteer, the Standard is from the Warlocks kit, I attached the shield at the waist so it was out of the way but handy and complies with WYSIWYG.
I arranged the flag to fit with the flowing belt and positioned the SDC to all look like they were blowing in the same direction.
The rock is to make him stand out from the unit, but more importantly to rank up, all those extra bits were getting in the way.
I am tempted to try and pick out the runes on the blade somehow, but not sure what colour for the blades and runes would achieve that. Any suggestions welcome.

This is the base I wanted to use, but my Witch Elf champion claimed it a couple of months ago.
I had spent quite a while removing her skirt with a dremel tool (metal is a sod to modify!) then green-stuffed in a replacement. Not sure it was an improvement, I could try something else but out of ideas.

I like the use of the base for the witch elf. From a ltd ed daemon slayer model?

Not sure I like the single wheel or not, my opinion changes every time I use the model. That goes with the big horse teeth too.

Looks good in green. Ties it all in together nicely and the skin tone is nicely done.
Some good work. Thanks for starting up the plog.

To be honest I dont know. It was in a mixed bag of models I got off Trade Me as while ago, finally got around to using it recently. Thanks for IDing it!

Really like the BSB :)
Was thinking of doing the same thing with that charioteer, but could never think of the right standard to use, that one works particularly well.

I remember a dwarf slayer being stood on top of the daemon head, from one of the gamesdays I think.

Looking nice. Especially like your conversion skills and ideas.

The horse teeth are really a problem thats true, ruin most of the model imo. I`m not highlighting the gum instead painting it rather blackish to be able to paint the teeth smaller so they won`t get pronounced as much. Still those rabbit teeth suck.

glad you liked the BSB - I would have preferred to make that my entry into the painting competition - but I only just came up with it . I started with trying to put him on the back of the chariot, but then decided to pop him on the rock. He really needed the height!

Hi tried using a background picture on my computer and posing the models in front of that for a photo. It might have been better if I had blown the loose static grass off the model first though

the Older Hag, but I still like this model

Undercoat and base coat on the BSB - slow going as I am not putting much time into painting at the moment :(

Maybe slow going, but the model looks nicely done.
Looking forward to seeing it finished.

I agree, that's a great looking model. I'm tempted to go look for the bitz myself! I can't wait to see the finished product!

How about white base, red and yellow with a yellow glaze.

Thanks for the tip Khazmando- last night I laid down the first colour coat and put some red wash in the runes. I was planning to tidy up around the wash, then dark the blade.
Have you got an example of that white-red-yellow idea? I might need to redo it.
cheers

I couldn't find a decent image, but this YouTube vid shows it.

Go to 16mins to start the glowing runes

Good luck!

It's a different way than I originally posted, but very good.

Hopefully I will attempt that today. Off home with the flu and if I get bored with being in bed I will try painting :)

This is how the runes turned out - I followed the video, but the lines on the forest thing were a little wider than these runes!

Coming together nicely, the runes themselves are not too bad, the sword itself looks quite flat however, is it currently just a single metallic colour?

Hi Amboadine, that sword caused me no end of problems. there have been several versions, I had it with black wash and mithral edging and a bronze looks and a red look. Each time I got the blade right I messed up the runes. I will give it one more try otherwise the paint will get too thick.

Nice, those runes will be a pita unless you have an uber fine tip. Your version looks good IMO. You can see it meld from red to orange. I'd probably add a tiny bit of white here and there in the runes and that's it. Nice one!

To liven up the sword, I've used two tones of metal, then washed the dry brush across the edges to the centre.

The BSB is complete now :) Next on the list is a bunch of warlocks - got them half painted, but the last half always takes the longest!
