Unleashed Wargaming... High Elves?

Post by Unleashed Wargaming »

May not be the best forum to post High Elves on but since they're joining as one now... why not.

Really impressive! The colours are awesome, and blending is seamless!

But... no eyes in the whole army?

I really like the colours, the purple and turquoise go really well together. But is it just me and the photographs, or do some areas look much flatter than others? I mean, your blending skills are obviously great, but it seems like you have skipped some places?

Really nice colour blending and pallette choice.

I guess I have to echo everything that's been said already; it's a great pallette, and a very cool-looking army.

But Rowena and Scythe sort of highlight the criticism I'd make; take the Sea Guard - the shields are blended really nicely, but it doesn't look like any of the siler/turquoise/purple has been highlighted or shaded. In addition some of the detail work (e.g. eyes) is missing, but where you're clearly capable of it?

Love your style.

(I'm guessing as a professional you have different standards of finish depending on time/budget, which are responsible for the details missed.)

Phoenix is especially spectacular.

The final comment here answered the questions. This is a large commission and follows the clients specifications. The eyes, however, are a real time sink and I increase my rates to take that sort of detail on. Most of the time eyes take several goes as I won't settle for a wandering eye or cat eyes that aren't quite round.

Thanks for the comments though. Enjoying the forum very much and hope to have more up soon.

Heh, wish I had enough time to paint my own army, let alone someone else's! :D

That explains it. :) And I really admire your skills, the models are lovely.
