it really depends on what your mortal units look like alongside them

Note the "daemonic legion" in the title, I don't think there'll be any mortals. ;)

In the fluff the daemons do need to be summoned, and in the game even if they are summoned whats to keep them from killing the summoners?

Thats true, but they would need to be summoned by someone un worthy or someone who didn't know what they were doing, otherwise they would have been sent for a purpose.

Though there is the possibility that the army exists in a encahted area that allows them to remain bonded to the world.

The daemons could have been summoned by a daemon sorcerer* that has strong ties to the mortal world. *Most likely a Tzeench or Slaanesh Daemon Prince

Hey,

I have just given all my currently painted models a thin glaze of Flesh Ink. Im not sure its nessecarily improved the look, though it has obviously darkened the skin tone. The small ammount of shading it has created is of course a good thing though. Either way, they dont look any worse!!

I probably shall not bother with new photos just yet as with my lighting I seriously doubt they will show up that different!

Bags contain about the same as the GW ones - they just cost half as much so no surprises there.

I thought I posted already... :?

Anywho, nice work on the KoS Chris. Very unconventional and I like the fact that you can see the eyeholes as though it was a mask. :)

Pretty wide unit of 'nettes, I like em'!

As always man, excellent work!

Hey,

Well over the last day I have been working on my first Chariot and Herald. Heres where im at so far:

Chariot of Slaanesh:

Kadaj - Daemonic Herald:
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b328/ ... ldwip2.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b328/ ... ldwip1.jpg

The parts used are all pretty obvious. Using Drycha as the basis for a Herald was suggested to me by my regional manager, i think its gonna trun out really well. Anyone who has seen Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children will recognise the Heralds name, and of course the inspiration for her cool parrallel bladed sword.

Hopefully will be able to start painting this evening.

they look good and i like your ideas. the sculpts are quite good, but the green stuff on the right steed was imho a bit off. maybe it could be a bit smoother, but maybe the angle gives a bad look of it.

the herald does look good and the blade is quite simple, yet nice. i didn't really figure out what you did to her with the gs, is it a loincloth of some sort? a picture of it with a better angle would be nice to see.

Hey,

the_kives: You are 100% correct on the GS'ing on the right steed, I have smoothed it out with another thin layer. The chariot is complete and Ive just sprayed it black. In that pic the Herald isnt finished, it was indeed the start of a loincloth, I have since added a bit more to it, making a sarong type thing on her. I need to file down some of her skin a little more, then she'll be done :)

Nice. You writing all these steps down?

I might make the following suggestion for putting your herald into the chariot. If you just place it in there, it will slide out whenever you move the model, driving you crazy when you are playing. I built a chariot for a Dark Elf Highborn, but I put an anchor spike on the chariot platform, and a receptor hole in the bottom of the Highborn's base, up into his leg. I think these pictures make what I'm describing clear:

Chariot Anchor

Character Receptacle

This way, when I move the chariot around, the character generally stays put, unless you turn it upside down. And if the chariot gets destroyed during a game, or if I want to use the Highborn as a model on foot, I just pull it out of the chariot and it's ready to go.
.
.
Wishing everyone the very best, to the end of your days.

Hey,

I have now completed both the Herald and the Chariot (though I need to paint a Daemonette Crewman). Im really very very pleased with my Herald - I simply love it! However, I left the army at work today, so youll have to wait untill tomorrow for pictures...sorry!

Icon Hack: Hey buddy. Unfortunately I didnt take any more pics of my Herlad conversion, though I can (and will) list out all the steps taken. I will by using the same basis for my BSB Herald conversion in a week or so's time, so I can take more WIP photos then :)
The idea for the receptor is a great one, and I will definately be doing that tomorrow night - thanks for a good tip there man.

funkamental: Yes :)

Fr0: Thanks Fr0 man, wait untill you see the Herald painted, I hope youll like it as much. Army should be complete in a few weeks.

Thanks for all the replies, and if you want to check out this armies progress on the battlefield, please check my evolution thread in the Lesser Races Army List forum (Ill link next time)
